Meatbird Service Technician

Job Summary

Monitors the management, health status, performance, feed, and flock records to aid in producing quality products.

• Maintains a positive company / grower relationship to motivate the grower to attain maximum results.
• Assumes responsibility for the health and performance of contract turkeys
• Records daily and weekly mortalities
• Records and verifies feed deliveries to contract facilities
• Instruct contract growers on best management practices
• Implements sanitation and disease prevention programs
• Performs routine necropsy on mortalities to monitor disease status of flock.
• Prescribes medication in appropriate dosage
• Inspects contract facilities to ensure their compliance with contractual agreement.
• Transports turkeys to Diagnostic Laboratory for disease monitoring and testing
• Completes and checks final flock file which includes feed conversion rates and medication cost.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
• Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university with an emphasis of studies in Animal or Poultry Science;

or one to two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
