Job Description:As a CNC Machinist at BW Papersystems, you will be responsible for executing a variety of machining operations, including turning, drilling, and thread cutting on diverse metal components. You will interpret drawings and specifications to determine the proper operational sequence, selecting appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds to achieve desired outcomes. Your role is crucial in ensuring precision and quality in the production of parts from various ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Machine parts to precise specifications using tools such as mills, lathes, saws, and grinders.
  • Measure, examine, and test completed units to identify defects and ensure compliance with specifications, utilizing precision instruments like micrometers.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances by applying mathematical knowledge and using instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools to perform precision machining operations, ensuring alignment and security of fixtures, tools, and materials.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process to maintain accuracy and quality.
  • Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for specific machining tasks, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment, promptly reporting and addressing any unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Perform all tasks in strict adherence to established safety procedures.
  • Assist colleagues as needed to ensure smooth workflow within the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production goals.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of machining experience (Manual or CNC)
  • Experience with lathes, grinders and mills a plus
