BYLT Basics is Hiring a Technical Designer Near Irvine, CA

POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Designer is responsible for managing all aspects of technical design, multi-stage execution, and achieving calendar milestones. They will maintain the development and quality of assigned apparel and accessory products by serving as the liaison between the Design Department, Product Development, and the factories. Key skills required to be successful in this position include the ability to lead fittings, analyze fit adjustments, and give clear communication with team members and factories on the fit direction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage comprehensive fitting, size run, and wear test milestones to ensure on-time delivery of quality product that is ready to go-to-market.
  • Monitor and maintain the fit development communication with vendors each day, style by style.
  • Partner with Design & Merch to fully understand complete design intent/briefs and interpret design comments in order to translate this understanding into comprehensive specs within technical documentation.
  • Work cohesively with product development on correct fabrics/trims for each style to ensure accurate fittings and sample comments.
  • Continually make sure that tech packages are complete and free from errors. Deliver tech packages to vendors precisely within the development calendar time frame.
  • Manage and monitor communication with vendors regarding each applicable product style throughout the development cycle.
  • Manage tracking, comments, and calendar related to all product phases (Protos, PPS, TOP).
  • Address styling & fit comments during development (in conjunction with Designers and Developers).
  • Work with the Development and Merch on wear tests and tracking comments for further fit adjustments.
  • Responsible for ensuring each product is 100% approved and production ready at specific deadlines all pertaining to fit and construction
  • Assist with other development- related projects as needed throughout the year

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • College Degree in Technical Design or related course of study.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Technical Design related experience.
  • Experience in Women’s Apparel is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Ability to use discretion and independent judgment to meet objectives within set
  • timelines.
  • Depth in the knowledge of product construction, manufacturing, and patterns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of apparel product development procedures and industry standards,manufacturing, sewing assembly, materials, and construction techniques.
  • Ability to work with a variety of teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, well organized, and calendar driven.
  • Excellent time management skills are necessary for a superb organization.
  • Understanding fit, pattern making, and grading is a necessity.
  • Proficient in email, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong experience in CRM
