Our Chandler location is searching for a Lead Technician who will lead a team of technicians to support all aspects of telecommunication installations, including the installation of low-voltage equipment and communication devices.
The Technician will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of telecommunication installations including the installation of low-voltage cables, and setting up electronic equipment and communication devices. This includes the physical installation of cabling, working as a part of team, using past knowledge and skills to determine the best installation practices, and taking and instruction and on-the-job training from direct supervisors as needed.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Installation and termination of Coax, UTP, Multiconductor, DAS, AV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection cable and Fiber optics cable and connectors.
  • Build “to do” lists and proactively follow them.
  • Layout pathway for cable with minimal direction.
  • Follow up with installers to make sure installation is being done according to industry, Kane, and local code standards.
  • Properly test and troubleshoot copper and fiber installations.
  • Properly interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices
  • Interpret the job plan and scope of work as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure
  • Plan upcoming week look ahead for material and labor requirements.
  • Must be able to accept constructive criticism
  • Installation of Racks, cabinets, cable supports, and fire-stopping material
  • Installation of electronic equipment (switched, UPS, cameras, etc.)
  • Operation of applicable cable test equipment.
  • Reports daily status of assigned tasks to Project Lead.
  • Maintains a clean & organized work environment.
  • Professionally dressed in accordance with KANE policies
  • Provide transportation to and from work sites
  • Comply with all Department Standards, Policies & Procedures.
  • Properly explain the importance of safety and professionalism toward optimal job performance.
  • Discuss and develop pathways, spaces, bonding and grounding and firestopping with Project Lead/Foreman.
  • Choose the correct tool or methodology for specific tasks.
  • Some travel may be requested.
  • Read, understand, follow, and promote company policies and procedures
  • Know color code for 4 and 25 pair
  • Follow direction from leads and or equipment manuals
  • Knowledge and tracking of project material

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Installer qualifications (see Installer job description) and pass internal test
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
  • Basic smart phone and tablet functions
  • Basic Office 365 software (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Basic Smartsheet Knowledge
  • Must be OSHA 10 Certified
Education and Experience:
  • 1-2 Years of Low Voltage Installation Experience in Commercial Construction
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • Certifications and/or licenses (list only if required or preferred; should be relevant to the position).
  • Must have a valid, clean driver's license
  • Must pass a drug screen, extensive background check and I9 screening
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements:
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
