Job Summary

Under direction of the Construction Foreman, the Pipeline Tech will oversee all pertinent operations and projects related to Caerus pipeline assets. The Pipeline Tech will be responsible for planning and execution of pressure testing and abandonment, repairs, line locating, and all other general maintenance of Caerus pipelines. This individual will also work closely with Operations Teams, GIS, and Construction to execute Caerus’ business objectives that relate to pipeline assets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consider SAFETY as the primary responsibility in all operations
  • Maintain pigging schedule and send/receive pigs via pipelines according to that schedule
  • Responsible for Change Management Forms
  • Line locating and mapping of pipelines
  • Manage pipeline pressure testing program
  • Collect water samples from pipelines, to be processed at a lab
  • Response to any pipeline issues, line leaks, line strikes and line freezes in the field
  • Generate daily pigging impact reports, including possible compressor impact, and estimated liquid volumes.
  • Proficiency of understanding flowline / pipeline rulemaking and its applicability to pipeline assets
  • Assist with chemical program
  • Manage structure and quality assurance of Caerus Integrity Management data
  • Analyze and internally disseminate compliance requirements for all Caerus pipelines
  • Assist with cathodic protection program
  • Oversee Change Management Procedure for pipeline and process changes
  • Work with the GIS Analyst to ensure pipeline and facility locations are maintained internally and properly reported externally
  • Diagnose malfunctions in the pipeline assets, determine and recommend appropriate corrective actions to the Construction Superintendent
  • Write procedures for pressure testing and abandonment of pipeline assets
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Dynamic work environment that may require extended working hours/call outs

Supervisor Duties

  • Supervise, manage, and schedule pressure testing, abandonment, valve greasing and construction crews
  • Oversee other in-field work as necessary

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Specialized knowledge

  • ILI pipeline equipment, and processes
  • Hydrate identification and mitigation
  • Operation of midstream pigging facilities
  • Mechanical, plumbing, and pipeline best practices and safety
  • Institutional knowledge of midstream and production gathering systems in GNB field.
    • RTU’s – ABB, Thermal-Fisher, ROCK

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with good working knowledge of oil and gas operations and machines/tools commonly used in the industry
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with members of small and large teams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and ability to use the Internet/E-mail.
  • High level of personal integrity and moral character
  • Self-discipline and strong work ethic
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be accustomed to performing tasks in potentially adverse conditions
  • Must possess the ability to safely operate all vehicles involved in field work

Licenses/Professional Certification

  • Valid driver’s license with motor vehicle records acceptable by Caerus’ insurance carrier.

Industry Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in oil and gas industry
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience pipeline operations

Working conditions

  • Some travel may be required.
  • 30% office and 70% outdoors
  • This position is subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.
