Caerus Oil & Gas is Hiring an EHS SPECIALIST Near Parachute, CO

Job SummaryThe Environmental Health and Safety EHS Specialist provides staff level assistance for Field Operations’ application of environmental, health and safety programs in the Piceance Basin. This EHS Specialist will be an essential team member dedicated to the EHS Team and Remediation Program. This position will be focused primarily on assessing soil and water impacts, assisting with the development and implementation of remediation plans, and reviewing and submitting the required agency reports. This EHS Specialist will assist in the successful management and ultimate closure of multiple remediation projects. This position will be a trusted resource for the EHS Program and EHS team members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide staff level support to the Sr. EHS Specialists and EHS Lead on multiple projects.
  • Participate in EHS on-call.
  • Assist with water quality sampling program, including Form 28 sampling, Injection well sampling, NPR sampling and COGCC Rule 609 sampling.
  • Support the development, operation, and maintenance of new and existing remediation systems.
  • Perform remediation supporting duties, ground disturbance and contractor assistance in the field.
  • Conduct environmental excavation support and make decisions involving the sampling and removal of impacted soil.
  • Participate in annual compliance inspections.
  • Assist with collecting quarterly water samples.
  • Assist with the management of E&P waste.
  • Assess soil and water during and after spills and releases occur.
  • Compose spill, release, and investigation reports to be submitted to State and Federal agencies.

QualificationsEducation
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, geology, biology or a similar technical degree field
Specialized knowledge
  • 1-4 years of related experience in remediation and or related environmental programs
  • Have knowledge of COGCC, CDPHE and Federal regulatory environmental and safety compliance issues, specifically recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Basic analytical skills, capable of identifying trends in data. Data manipulation and understanding of EHS management system(s).
Skills & Abilities
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Power Point, Word, Access, and in use of intranet/internet.
  • Problem Solving: Identify workflow issues and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate interpersonal skills capable of interfacing daily with management, field and contract personnel in order to build networks within Caerus and externally with contractors.
  • Organizational Skills: Self-directed and capable of functioning at high level with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Work is frequently non-routine and incumbent must be able to work without detailed instruction.
  • Ability to ask well-researched questions in order to learn the information required to perform the job.
  • High energy combined with a positive, results-oriented attitude.
  • Manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Determination to improve yourself and those around you.
  • Operate a vehicle safely (in all weather conditions) to drive to oil & gas locations located in rural/open range country.

  • Must be fast, thorough, skeptical and succinct in one’s conclusions.

Industry Experience
  • 1-4 years technical experience in Environmental, Health and Safety compliance.
  • Specific experience within the oil and gas industry in the Rocky Mountain Region is preferred.
  • Ability to relate and interact productively with EHS professionals within the oil and gas industry in the Piceance Basin.
  • Ability to review new and changing regulations and advise operations on methods for compliance.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with motor vehicle records acceptable by Caerus’ insurance carrier.
  • Must pass drug screening prior to employment
Working conditions
  • 60% office and 40% field work. Must be willing to perform tasks in potentially adverse weather conditions.
  • This position requires regular travel in the field by vehicle and on foot.
  • This position is subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing.
Compensation And Benefits
  • Hourly Pay Range
    • $34.00 - $47.50 per hour
    • Eligible for an annual bonus
