Company Cox Automotive - USA Job Family Group Vehicle Operations Job Profile Inspector I Management Level Individual Contributor Flexible Work Option No remote option; must work at a specified Cox location Travel % No Work Shift Day Compensation Hourly base pay rate is $13.08 - $19.62/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program. Job Description As an Inspector, I function as a member of the inspection team for an operating location. I am primarily responsible for providing accurate and complete documentation of overall vehicle condition. More specifically, the documentation provided by the Inspector is used to support the processing and sale of client/customer-cosigned vehicles in-lane and online. A basic understanding and delivery of the following is required: VIN recognition; proper notation of all options and equipment in vehicle; proper odometer reading and operable function; identification of damage, missing parts, and major mechanical problems; estimating repair cost pricing; recommending labor actions, severity, pricing; identifying value-added options; identifying basic mechanical conditions; identifying common wear and tear; documenting vehicle condition in writing by completing appropriate Vehicle Condition Report; completing inspections process and data entry in appropriate time frames; collecting digital photos per specific criteria guidelines. Verify vehicle information based on work order information – identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at the time of receipt (i.e., interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment), noting any damage or repair to frame/paint, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc. Prepare and complete all necessary documentation. Set up a system for day-end; perform day-end procedures. Maintain knowledge to ensure all policies and procedures are followed. Write electronic condition reports (ECR). Conduct OVE courtesy walk-around inspections. Maintain knowledge of system capabilities, knowledge of needed/job-relevant software packages, and web-based applications. Maintain a working knowledge of improvements and changes concerning body mechanics, frame labor, inspection techniques, etc. Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence. Perform other duties as assigned by management. May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate. Qualifications: Minimum- High School Diploma/GED. Generally, I have less than two years of experience in a related field. Safe Drivers are Needed; a Valid Driver’s License is required. Basic computer software skills are required. Ability to multitask required. Must be detail-oriented. Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color vision, and depth perception. Preferred- ASE certification or background in automotive repair and cost estimating. Knowledge ICAR Certifications preferred. General knowledge of automotive body and mechanical work is preferred. Previous body shop experience, mechanical experience, estimating experience a plus. Drug Testing To be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position.
