Job SummaryAs Individual Giving Manager you will report to the Director of Fundraising and assist in managing our client's efforts to secure private financial contributions. This includes leading the Annual Fund and overseeing donor relations for those in recognition societies and at similar levels of philanthropic support.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for an Individual Giving Manager on a direct hire basis. This position will be full-time and onsite.Candidates must be a commutable distance to Evanston, IL.What You’ll DoAnnual Fund Responsibilities:
  • Enhance the organization’s efforts to increase individual giving through the effective implementation of an annual fund incorporating innovative ideas, effective project management, and analysis of impact
  • Together with the Fundraising department leadership, and the corporate management team, create specific plans for donor acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship throughout the year
  • Drive awareness of, and appeals to join, the corporation’s recognition and giving impact societies
  • Manage the direct mail program, email fundraising, social media fundraising, and associated website content
  • Engage annual giving donors and identify those who should be elevated to major gift prospects
  • Serve as a qualification officer for new leads for major gift prospects and planned gifts from research, prospect tracking tools, and donor database
  • Lead and create strategic events including, but not limited to, targeted events for prospective donors
Donor Relations & Advising Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects actively giving, or with the potential to give, annual gifts between $1,000 and $10,000
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to increase philanthropic support from individuals, and actively promote and participate in donor stewardship
  • Participate in the solicitation and closing of gifts at all levels with the Director of Fundraising, Executive Director of Fundraising, and the corporate management team, including the President and CEO
  • Proactively contact prospects to qualify leads through calls and emails
  • Solicit individual prospective donors and qualify major gift prospects to proactively cultivate additional future gifts
  • Prepare written proposals, information, and other materials needed to secure gifts
Additional Responsibilities
  • Clearly articulate the corporation’s vision and funding priorities, both verbally and in writing, to prospects and donors
  • In consultation with the Director of Fundraising, annually establish personal goals, objectives, and strategies for individual giving, and regularly assess progress toward defined goals
  • Ensure proper stewardship and recognition of donors in the corporation’s recognition societies
  • Various other duties as assigned by the Fundraising department leadership, corporate officers, and upper management of the corporation
RequiredWhat You'll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees/certifications preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience overseeing annual funds, recognition societies, and/or individual giving programs
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have strong project management and organizational skills
  • Must be detail oriented and self-motivated – the ideal candidate is a strong collaborative team player who enjoys working with others and has the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Must have familiarity with philanthropic and fundraising best practices
  • Thorough knowledge and experience working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat required
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
Physical Demands
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
