Under the guidance and direction of the SVPHR, the HR Generalist is responsible for enhancing department functions by focusing on recruitment and on-boarding activities, as well as provides support in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.
Essential Duties
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Functions
  • Partners with the HR team to effectively and efficiently execute recruitment plan.
  • Develops job announcements, advertisements and posts open positions in various recruiting sources to maximize visibility and exposure to potential candidates to generate large applicant pools.
  • Develops a pool of candidates through direct sourcing for high volume open positions from a variety of sources across multiple regions. Continuous sourcing of candidates through personal networks, database, cold calls, and web searches.
  • Makes outgoing calls to existing employees and potential candidates, schedule face-to-face meetings/interviews and close significant open requisitions on a weekly basis. Researches, analyzes, prepares and presents recruiting trends, sources, etc.
  • Participates in various job fairs and community functions as a source to generate highly qualified applicants.
  • Arranges interviews with candidates, including but not limited to coordinating schedules. Introduces qualified candidates to the management team and hiring managers.
  • Generates and maintains detailed weekly recruitment status reports.
  • Ensures consistent communication with all individuals involved in the recruitment process.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with company management to ensure ability to influence, guide, and drive recruiting process.
  • Conducts reference checks, if applicable.
  • Provides first-level support for employee relations by performing intake on new issues and/or providing guidance to management to resolve moderately complex employee relations issues; escalates issues to VPHR for resolution. Coach and counsel managers and employees on various issues (employee relations, expectation setting etc.).
  • Facilitate and conduct exit interviews; gather insights and compile trends regarding retention; partner within HR to communicate feedback as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local legal requirements by keeping apprised of existing and new legislation and advising management of needed action.
  • Assists with the execution of the safety programs and work closely with department managers in tracking, providing and following up on safety related information and ensure HR related safety initiatives are followed. Works with management to maintain a company-wide work place environment free of incidents and accidents.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
Environment/Physical Activity
The environment for this position is an office environment, mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise. The incumbent is in a non-confined office area in which he or she is free to move about at will.
In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time as follows:
  • Walking - Occasional. Walking is minimal in the performance of duties. Worker may walk 3 - 5 feet around work area completing different functions pertaining to the reports and delivery of applicable forms.
  • Sitting – Constant. Worker will spend the majority of the workday sitting at his/her work area working with the company’s computer and software systems.
  • Lifting – Minimal. Worker will lift less than 5 lbs. throughout the day. Occasional transfer of files to storage might exceed 5 lbs in lifting.
  • Reaching – Minimal. Worker may reach to secure forms and documents throughout the day.
  • Fingering - Constant. Worker is required to use finger activities when using the company’s computer system.
  • Feeling - Constant. Worker feels and touches the computer keyboard and calculator while working.
  • Vision - Constant. Worker is constantly required to use accurate visual acuity in the performance of duties.
Mental Demands
The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to the following demands:
  • Constant distractions and interruptions. Uncontrollable changes in priorities and work schedules.
  • Time pressures and tight deadlines. Long periods of highly detailed and precise work activity.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to accurately define task parameters and objectives, then gather detailed, relevant data from appropriate sources.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, studying and applying new information. Results oriented mindset, with the ability to interpret complex data, developing and communicating value-add solutions.
  • Ability to perform this job successfully and satisfactorily.
Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in in human resources or business desired
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite. Experience with Paycom and ATS a plus
  • Experience in a call center a plus
