California Cultured Inc. is Hiring a Laboratory Technician Near West Sacramento, CA

Our mission is to improve the world’s chocolate supply with a chocolate that is mouthwatering, sustainable, and better for you.

California Cultured is a small, fast-paced company searching for a passionate, hands-on Laboratory Technician. This candidate would support the research, development, and commercialization of our plant cell-cultured cacao. An ideal candidate will have a background in biology or chemistry, previous laboratory experience, and enjoys chocolate. This position is expected to work closely with team members as well as independently to help support the R&D team, and maintain a clean, well-functioning laboratory.

Duties include

  • Regular maintenance of plant cell cultures.
  • Prepare plant growth media, wash and sterilize equipment, maintain a clean lab environment.
  • Communicate with research associates and scientists to ensure weekly supplies are prepared on-time.
  • Order items kept regularly in stock, as well as process purchases from other team members
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot technical, operational, and equipment issues as necessary.
  • Basic equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years equivalent work experience in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular or cell biology
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques, working in biosafety cabinets/laminar flow hoods, pipetting, using analytical scales, autoclaves, and common laboratory equipment.
  • Motivated and able to perform routine tasks.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills as well as outstanding written and verbal communication.
  • Strong independent spirit, flexibility, and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of a startup environment.
  • Ability to give, to receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans and prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $18.00 per hour
