Job Summary
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, conduct training activities for new bus drivers and in-service activities for license renewals and for special training;
drive a school bus over a designated route in accordance with time schedules. This class is responsible for planning and carrying out training activities for bus drivers.
Positions evaluate the driving ability of bus drivers to obtain new licenses or to renew license in accordance with State code and provide drivers with the expertise to safely and efficiently drive buses and correctly conduct mandated pre-trip inspections.
This class also establishes and maintains required documentation of training as part of the Transportation Department's adherence to State requirements and represents the Director at the scene of each accident involving a district driver.

Any combination equivalent to : sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed in the job description and : five years of experience operating school buses or two years of experience operating heavy vehicles required in type B or C driver's licenses.

Examination process : Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations : Performance test (weight : 50%) and Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weight : 50%).
The competitive basis for this recruitment is Open / Promotional - Dual Certification. The position is open until an eligibility list is established.
Candidates who pass all exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months.
The job posting remains open until an eligibility list is established. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and / or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, the candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment.
The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline, a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to : barbara.
bass@sduhsd.net. Transferring of exam scores does not apply to the Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations ("entrance" is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District).
Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application. Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance.
The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer.
