Job Description And DutiesPlease note this is an 'Until Filled' position. The application cut-off date is June 13, 2024, 11:59 PM (PST). Interested individuals must submit their application packages by the cut-off date to be considered.
The California Department of Education is seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Executive Administrator to serve as a vital support to the Chief Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction. As an essential member of the team, you will contribute to shaping educational policies and initiatives that impact millions of students across the state. We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of leadership, innovation, and commitment to educational equity. Your expertise will play a crucial role in advancing our mission to ensure every student receives a high-quality education.
In this role, you will identify, analyze, and interpret key education policy issues that impact the operation of educational programs across the CDE; direct and/or carry out special projects per the direction of the Chief Deputy or State Superintendent of Public Instruction (SSPI); advise the Chief Deputy or SSPI regarding the most sensitive, critical, or confidential issues pertaining to existing or developing policy and/or activities affecting TK-12 education in California; develop, review, and/or revise policy/issue memorandum, position papers, or advisors; prepare recommendations for the Chief Deputy's concurrence; assist the Chief Deputy on matters of sensitive and/or confidential nature; research and prepare talking points and PowerPoint presentations; perform administrative duties related to policies and workload of the Chief Deputy, including review of all documents for approval and providing recommendations regarding CDE policies and practice; and provide staff direction to the Department.
This position offers a hybrid telework program, allowing you to work remotely when conducive to a telework environment. You will have the chance to participate in Department-wide initiatives, provide leadership, and coordinate with the rest of the Chief Deputy's staff. Furthermore, you will play a vital role in fiscal accounting duties for the Office of the Deputy, ensuring efficient operations and support for special assignments as requested.
This position requires a working knowledge of the California Department of Education and/or other State Education Agencies/California State Agencies processes and procedures.
