Length of Position: August-June (2024-2025 School Year)
Summary Time: 7:45am-4:15 pm M-F

Position: Salary: 45,000-59,089( According to Experience and Education on the salary schedule)

Supervisor: Reports To: HOS, but will be supervised by the Coordinator of Teacher Support and PD and the Classroom Teacher
Job Status: Full-Time Exempt

Main Job Duties:

  • Create and update a yearly annual plan/scope an sequence
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans
  • Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods and materials that ensure the student is able to meet the highest learning standardsDevelop and a plan for evaluation of student workEnsure that appropriate materials and tools are utilized to support daily learningPlan according to the backwards lesson design for project-based learningLearn about and be well-versed on the expectations of a project-based learning classroomBe prepared for students so they can utilize their time effectively in the classroom

Instructional Expectations:

Clearly communicate the objectives and relevance of the material being taught
State learning objectives of lessons and units and ensure that students understand them and can meet them with hard work and diligence
Ensure that students understand their role in the learning process
Employ project-based learning methods, which include hands-on opportunities and inquiry based instruction and learning practices
Demonstrate command of and enthusiasm for the subject matter
Integrate and execute a variety of teaching strategies
Evaluate teaching practices by utilizing regular reflection and adjust as necessary
Ensure that students are learning the material presented and are meeting high standards
Teach, instruct and provide lessons that are culturally diverse and give students the opportunity to learn about and appreciate diversity
Reflect to students the belief in their capability to be learners and to be able to manage and direct their own learning
Utilize effective questioning methods so that students can uncover and discover the core learning objectives
Give students regular and detailed feedback
Provide a collaborative instructional environment
Maintain an instructional pace in which the curriculum objectives can be met
Maintain a neat and clean classroom with updated bulletin boards and learning tools on the classroom walls.

Utilize effective classroom and instructional management techniques

Reflect a spirit of patience and empathy in classroom management strategies

Ensure that students utilize their time wisely during each instructional periodArrange the physical environment to reflect the values of collaboration and hard workEnsure that students understand and respect the direction of the teacher and other adult supervisorsProvide students with a daily schedule so they can stay on task as they transition from classroom to classroomDaily management plans should be in place with the goal to help students grow and become self-managers

Communication:
Maintain accurate and complete student records
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, team members, faculty, office staff and administration
Provide weekly curriculum updates for families
Reach out to parents and guardians early and often if there is a concern with their students
Communicate compassion and empathy when holding discussions with students and families
Participate with the HOS in providing regular curriculum updates to families
Handle conflicts according to our CIS expectations outlined in the employee handbook
Participate in the creation of Personalized Learning Plans, parent-teacher conferences and other family communication as necessary.
Participate in professional growth opportunities
Participate in observations and evaluations of teaching and learning practices

Supplemental:
Provide input and constructive recommendations for school growth and functions
Perform other duties related to the growth and learning environment of the school as assigned by the HOS
Supervise all extra-curricular activities as assigned such as field trips
Utilize opportunities for personal and professional growth

Heath and Safety:
Actively support and maintain safety standards, training, and evaluation of student health on a daily basis
Support the schools heath and safety policies
Understand and execute safety practices such as fire drills and lockdowns as necessary
Communicate any health and safety issues to the HOS, director of admissions, front office and families as needed
Supervise students at times

Education: BS or BA Degree (required)

MS or MA Degree (preferred)Out of State or CA teaching Credential (preferred)

Preference is given to candidates with teaching credentials.

Experience & Expertise:

Demonstrate knowledge and command of the subject matter

Demonstrate maturity and ability to lead groups of students

Experience working with elementary children in teaching and supervising capacity
