Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision, the Irrigation Specialist maintains and repairs grounds irrigation systems including modification of existing systems and the planning, cost estimating, and installation of new systems. The Irrigation Specialist performs specialized work on irrigation systems in grounds areas for a major portion of the incumbent’s work time. Incumbents in the Groundsworker classification or other grounds classifications may maintain sprinkler heads, make minor repairs to sprinkler lines, set clocks on automatic control devices in an assigned area of the campus on an occasional basis, and occasionally assist an Irrigation Specialist in specialized irrigation system maintenance work.

Facilities Management and Services (FMS) is a large, complex department consisting of approximately 180 employees working various shifts and providing diverse administrative and operational services campus wide.

Required Education and Experience:

Two years of experience in the care and maintenance of landscaped areas or general grounds, with one year in
the maintenance, repair, or modification of irrigation systems and irrigation equipment.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:

  • Bilingual
  • Demonstrated experience with centrally controlled irrigation system software
  • Prior experience designing and installing irrigation systems
  • Computer literacy/proficiency (Office 365 applications)

Time Base: Full time-1.0

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 5:00 am-1:30pm, Summer Hours: Mon -Thu 5:00 am-3:30pm
  • Schedule may include Saturdays

CSU Classification Salary Range: $42,528 - $69,384 per year.

Throughout employment in this position incumbent must possess and maintain the appropriate California Department of Pesticide Regulation license to perform pest control work.

Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver's License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.

The successful candidate will be required to pass a Audiometry Evaluation.
