Calpak is Hiring a Key Holder - Century City Near Los Angeles, CA

As a Key Holder at CALPAK, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our customers' travel experiences. You will lead by example, guiding your team to deliver exceptional service and insightful product knowledge about CALPAK's innovative travel solutions. Your mission is to champion a 'Happy Packing' lifestyle, ensuring that every journey our customers embark on is both enjoyable and memorable. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales performance, both individually and as a team, while fostering a positive and motivated work environment

  • Deliver exceptional customer service with a positive, energetic demeanor.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for CALPAK, engaging actively with the community.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to develop and implement marketing strategies.
  • Motivate and inspire the team to be effective brand ambassadors.
  • Stay informed about current products and industry trends.
  • Lead and support CALPAK strategies to achieve both individual and store goals.
  • Utilize tools and resources to meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Manage the entire employee experience from onboarding to offboarding.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays.
  • Supervise adherence to company uniform and appearance standards.
  • Communicate new initiatives, Operational Policies, leadership messages, and promotions to the team.
  • Assist the Store Manager with daily staffing and scheduling needs.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as processing personnel paperwork and preparing reports.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and implementing loss prevention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate pricing and merchandising displays.
  • Conduct opening and closing duties to prepare the store for operation.
  • Utilize POS systems for processing transactions and managing customer orders.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations to staff.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, and training of new team members.

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Effective time management and multitasking abilities.

  • Skilled in using Point of Sale (POS) systems.

Supervisory responsibilities

  • Direct reports include team members.

Work environment

  • Primary work environment is indoors.
  • Secondary work environment may include outdoor tasks.
  • Noise level can be above average at times.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Read instructions and reports on paper and computer screens.
  • Communicate verbally with customers and team members consistently.
  • Push and pull merchandise using carts and bins.
  • Lift, place, and arrange items on shelves and racks.
  • Bend down, reach overhead, and climb/descend ladders.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds individually and up to 97 pounds with assistance. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-Time: Up to 30 hours per week.
  • Full-Time: 40 hours per week, with shifts ranging from 9:00 AM to 11:59 PM; occasionally extending past midnight due to business needs.
  • Scheduled shifts typically last 8-9 hours, with occasional 2-hour meetings or training sessions.
  • Flexibility required for overtime, weekends, and holidays. 

Travel Requirements:

  • Walk to and from parking areas or public transportation.
  • Drive to CALPAK HQ for training.
  • Walk for storage, loading dock, and trash/recycling duties. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive retail management experience.
  • Strong sales, service, and interpersonal skills, including verbal communication, multitasking, basic math, and cash handling.
  • Enthusiasm and aptitude for learning about products.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Customer service experience.
  • Store supervisor experience.
