Our Preschool Assistant Director brings warmth, patience, and understanding to the center daily, encouraging children to learn and grow. They are committed to making our preschool successful and know that creating meaningful relationships with children, families, and their team plays a crucial role in that success. The Preschool Assistant Director is responsible for providing a safe environment. Daily check-ins with families entering the building. Prepping and delivering snacks, and assisting the Preschool Director with daily responsibilities.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Cooperate with the Preschool Director in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the Preschool.
  • Establish and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment that supports the growth and development of all preschool children.
  • Assist teacher with planning and conducting appropriate daily activities for children developmentally.
  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance records.
  • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
  • Be responsible for written communication to parents, through emails, newsletters, and Procare messaging.
  • Establish a safe and healthy nurturing environment for children.
  • Supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Display teaching excellence for other staff; role model; share professional and technical information.
  • Establish/follow feeding schedules and procedures for infants and others as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
  • Plan a program as required by the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services licensing standards.
  • Keep parents and administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, and administration.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotionals, in-service, faculty, and parent meetings.
  • Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.

Education and Experience
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Development and at least 21 semester hours in Early Childhood Education OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least 12 semester hours in Early Childhood Education AND either a Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential or 3 semester hours of college credit or 3 points of credential-approved training in administration, leadership, or management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Early Childhood experience, as documented in three written references.
Relationships
The number of people supervised: Lead Teachers, Assistants, Receptionists, and floaters.
