Worship Associate - Students and Young Adults

Title: Worship Associate

Status:Full-time, hourly, non-exempt, ministry staff

Purpose: To assist in the development of worship leaders and oversee the planning and execution of worship in Student Ministries and Young Adults to encourage students to pursue life in Christ.

Working Relationship: Accountable to the Board of Elders through the Senior Pastor with direct supervision for their ministry area to the Pastor of Worship Ministries.

Qualification

• Educational qualifications require a degree, preferably seminary or Bible college with specialization in Worship Arts, with local church ministry experience
• A knowledge of Scripture and its relevance to worship ministries
• Gifts of leadership, administration, and pastor/teacher
• Competency in leadership, creativity, and music for God-focused worship
• Organizational abilities to manage a wide range of ministry needs and deadlines as well as good communication skills ( written and verbal)
• An ability to be a team-player within the staff and lead teams of staff and volunteers

• Protect the reputation and integrity of others through strict confidentiality. Demonstrate a high level of trustworthiness.

Values and Beliefs

• Must be a professing Christian who affirm the Calvary Church doctrinal basis, vision and values and philosophy of ministry
• Must regularly attend Calvary Church

Responsibilities:

One Sentence Job Description: To lead and equip students and young adults to be life long worshipers of God

• Lead the worship planning for Student Ministries and Young Adult Ministries
  • Lead and participate in team planning meetings
  • Lead or attend rehearsals to ensure the support of Student Ministries and Young Adult worship contexts
  • Schedule worship volunteers for Student Ministry and Young Adult gatherings
  • Mentor, shepherd, and disciple Student Ministry and Young Adult worship volunteers
  • Be a presence and connect with students and young adults at their respective gatherings

• Lead and oversee the Worship Ministry Interns in the areas of Student Ministry and Young Adults
  • Delegate planning, tasks, and administrative duties as appropriate
  • Schedule them to lead in their respective areas of focus in coordination with main service needs
  • Oversee their growth in leadership and musicianship

• Support in the ministries of our main weekend worship gatherings

• Participation as a worship leader and musician in the main worship services as requested and time permits
• Attendance and participation in Worship Ministries Department planning meetings
• Administrative duties including – charting with Sibelius, filing, Ableton and Mainstage management, etc. – across all Worship Ministries areas as needed and time permits

General Ministry Staff Responsibilities

• Strive to uphold the Staff Commitment
• Collaborate with the Worship Ministries Department in developing goals, budgets, reports and evaluations as requested by Supervisor, Senior Pastor, or Elders
• Stay current in culture and skills through professional development
• Maintain a regular schedule balancing time with people, study of God’s Word, and administrative oversight
• Be involved and invested in appropriate staff meetings and staff events
• Develop and maintain job procedures
• Be an active participant of Calvary Church’s corporate worship service
• Pray for the ministry of the church
• Serve in other areas as requested by the Senior Pastor or Pastor of Worship Ministries

Work Schedule and Time Allotment

•  Work schedule: full-time, flexible related to programs and projects.
•  Weekend and evening responsibilities
•  To be managed and accounted for in cooperation with the Pastor of Worship Ministries.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Light physical work requirements (lifting 10-20 lbs.), sitting, prolonged standing, potential reaching, climbing, prolonged positioning under hot bright lights, occasionally outside in differing weather conditions and prolonged looking at monitors and computer screens and operating a mouse and keyboard.

Creative thinking, conceptual, collaborative, and listening skills. Must be able to present ideas and allow for adoption, adaptation or elimination of those ideas.
