- Job Summary:
- The Clinical Documentation Specialist facilitates improvement in the overall quality of concurrent and retrospective medical records to ensure the documentation is complete and accurately reflects the care and services that patient is receiving.
- Education:
- Position requires a Bachelors degree and Registered Nurse Licensure
- Registration/Certification/Licensure:
- State Registered Nurse (RN) required. Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) preferred.
- Experience:
- Prior Clinical Documentation Specialist or related position experience in an acute hospital setting preferred or minimum of three (3) years' experience in Utilization Review and/or Case Management may be considered.
- Other Requirements:
- Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and/or any other department requirements.
- Demonstrated proficiency of computer skills necessary to effectively complete position requirements.
- Previous experience and demonstrated professionalism in effectively communicating with customers and in promoting a positive service atmosphere.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize concurrent projects, meet deadlines, follow through with deliverables, and produce quality work.
- Effectively communicates with all staff by implementing organization-wide communication techniques as a daily practice.
