Job Summary: This position represents Calvin University by assisting in leadership of the admissions counseling team through recruitment efforts. This role oversees recruitment in priority territories which includes visiting high schools, attending college fair programs, hosting guests through campus visit programs and communicating with students through regular communication channels to encourage and influence students to apply and enroll at Calvin. This person will collaborate with the Program Director of College Access Programs, specifically with the Entrada Scholars Program. This is all done in alignment with the university and department mission and vision to increase student enrollment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned): ENROLLMENT RECRUITMENT
  • Drive enrollment at Calvin University by overseeing recruitment territories utilizing both external and internal activities including visiting high schools, hosting visitors, attending college fairs, community outreach, planning events, and working with alumni to establish and maintain effective student recruiting strategies.
  • Plan and execute travel/recruitment plans to maximize enrollment efforts.
  • Serve as primary contact for prospective students and families through calls, events, 1:1 meetings, emails, etc.
  • Establish and maintain effective recruiting relationships with key territory schools by making scheduled visits and contacting appropriate school administrators, parents and alumni to ensure good standing with feeder schools to ensure the percentage of students coming to Calvin grows.
  • Develop proficiency within the CRM to gather data, plan travel, record interactions with students, and report activity. Database management will be an essential component to successful recruitment.
  • Support the admissions counseling team by performing some department administrative duties such as reviewing admission files for completion, monitoring the status of individual applicants, scheduling high school visits and making travel arrangements to contribute to an efficient and cost-effective recruiting process.
COLLEGE ACCESS RECRUITMENT AND OPERATIONS
  • Collaborate with the Program Director of College Access to develop strategies that ensure the recruitment goals are met for programs, such as Entrada, that target undergraduate students.
  • Manage the development of processes and resources for the recruitment, application, and marketing needs of the Entrada program in collaboration with departmental leaders.
  • Support analysis and assessment of recruitment and admission tactics using the CRM to help improve Entrada recruitment strategies and planning. Utilize queries and reports that support the tactics and needs of the team.
LEADERSHIP
  • Assist admissions leadership team with various projects and responsibilities that enhance recruitment efforts for Calvin University.
  • Analyze current enrollment data related to Calvin University student recruiting by reviewing current and historical enrollment and geographic data to identify and develop strategies for reaching potential students.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position assists in the management of the admissions counseling team. Student employee supervision may be required as needed. This position also handles confidential information.
  • PUBLIC SPEAKING- You will be the face of Calvin University in many events and should represent the mission and vision of Calvin effectively while engaging participants.
  • COMPLEXITY- This position requires the ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Instructions may be furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY- This position has the authority, if approved, to take action or make recommendations that will affect procedures, processes, and practices involving customers or employees in other departments.
  • DECISION MAKING/JUDGEMENT- Demonstrated ability to make judgement calls aligned with the university and department mission and vision regarding event management.
  • RELATIONSHIP BUILDING- The nature of this position is highly collaborative and requires the person to be highly skilled in accomplishing goals through working with others. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • REPORT DEVELOPMENT & TECHNICAL SKILL- This position will require an understanding and usage of a CRM database system to pull reports & queries for analyzation.
  • CREATIVTY- Develop creative approaches to challenging recruitment and event issues through innovative and relevant strategies. Stay current in student communication preferences and recruitment concepts through regular reading and research.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 2-3 years of experience in admissions or higher education required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in admissions, outside sales or territory management preferred.

A valid Driver’s License is required.
