Qualifications/Experience:
High School Diploma/GED and passed ParaPro/Para Educator testing (or 60 college credits) required.
A successful background check is required.
Prefer experience working with children.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Needed:
Patience, flexibility, love for children, confidentiality, teamwork, self-starter, takes direction easily, excellent communication skills, behavior management skills, assist in the classroom and in special education classroom.
Exemplifies the following Five Character Traits: compassion, respect, responsibility, self-discipline, and honesty.
Specific Tasks:
Work with students throughout the day assisting with behavior and academics. Refocus the student in the classroom, de-escalate negative behavior, recognize and acknowledge positive behavior, and work cooperatively with the classroom teacher and Special Education staff. Work to increase independence in children. Other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher. See the job description for additional information.

6.5 hours/day
