Camel Energy is Hiring a Battery Engineer (Internship) Near Ann Arbor, MI

Brief Description Of RoleWe are looking for a candidate to join our team of dedicated engineers to design, develop, and optimize the battery and Energy Storage system that will be integrated into multiple vehicle platforms. The candidate will work closely with the project manager and all engineering leads (thecell development, module/pack design, BMS, testing, etc.), and act as a technical liaison in the battery/ESS systems field to represent the promising solutions/technical proposals to fulfill the requirements from customers.
Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct various electrical testing on batteries at laboratory to evaluate the performance and characteristics of various type of batteries.
  • Propose the product improvement plan and optimization plan based on market demand and testing data.
  • Research the latest technology and industrial trends by attending conferences and exhibitions.
  • Identify potential safety risks and implement measures to mitigate them during the development process.
  • Communicate research progress, findings, and recommendations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to patenting new ideas and innovations to protect intellectual property resulting from research and development efforts.
  • Continuously explore opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement in battery development.
Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of battery chemistry, materials, and energy storage principle
  • Experience with battery testing equipment and analysis tools is a plus
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute deliverables in an occasionally high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient with Excel and being able to learn other proprietary computer software is required.
  • Bilingual skills (Fluent English and Chinese)
  • Travel (up to 20% of working hours) for conferences, expos, customer visits.
