3.0Position Summary
Responsible for maintaining all activities related to sample retain and disposal. Duties include proper storage of samples, entering sample information and storage location into database, disposing of samples and maintaining the sample retain area in a clean and organized manner.
4.0Minimum Requirements
•Requires a H.S. Degree (or equivalent).
•Must demonstrate ability to grasp new procedures quickly and be capable of working independently upon completion of training.
•Must pass pulmonary test for respirator use.
5.0Responsibilities
As instructed by the Branch and/or Laboratory Manager and under the strict guidelines described in internal standard operating procedures:
•Store samples in the designated retain area for the period generated by the Polaris system.
•Ensure samples are properly labeled and securely capped.
•Enter sample information and storage location into database.
•After the retention period expires, properly dispose of expired samples in a manner consistent with local procedures and applicable regulations. Enter disposal information into database.
•Notify the Laboratory Manager, or his designate, when bulk waste pickups are necessary.
•Maintain the retain area in a clean, neat, safe and orderly manner.
•Be available to make local sample pickups as needed at the direction of the Laboratory and/or Branch Manager.
6.0Fitness for Duty – Physical Demands
Workday may consist of 8-12 hours; however, this can vary day to day or shift to shift. Some of the retain work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for prolonged duration of time. Some of the work is performed indoors or in a truck under climate-controlled conditions.
