Most recently, we opened the new April Sampson Cancer Center located in south Lincoln.

Cancer Partners of Nebraska is seeking a Rehabilitation Technician to assist Physical Therapists and/or Occupational Therapists patients by preparing treatment area, equipment, and materials. Also helping patients' complete physical and occupational therapy assignments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares PT/OT treatment rooms and treatment areas for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepares patients for PT/OT treatment by welcoming, comforting, escorting, and/or assisting patients into treatment rooms and treatment areas.
  • Provides information and comfort to PT/OT patients by listening to questions and requests; relaying concerns and questions to the physical therapist.
  • Helps treat patients by demonstrating the proper use of equipment and rehabilitation therapy routines; helping patients practice techniques, such as, the proper methods of moving from a bed into a wheelchair; helping patients practice the best ways to stretch and limber muscles; monitoring the implementation of the Occupational/Physical Therapists instructions; ensuring they are performed correctly.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects Cancer Partners of Nebraska operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with Cancer Partners of Nebraska Policies and Procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Protects patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
  • Maintains Rehabilitations Services supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
  • Maintains logs for maintenance of equipment
  • Services and protects the Rehabilitation Services department by adhering to professional standards; federal state and local requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

Education and Training:

  • High School Education

Experience :

  • 2 - 3 years' experience in rehabilitation services preferred
  • Safety transfer of patients up to 300 pounds

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and appreciation for a teamwork concept, clinic policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care as it relates to the Radiation Oncology department.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and other regulatory policies
  • Ability to act in a professional and positive manner when interacting with patients
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in stressful situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing and on the phone in the English language

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Full-time

Environmental and Physical Demands

  • Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting and reaching
  • Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Frequent standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Vision must be corrected to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range
  • Occasional stress related to workload and patients with problems
