Job Summary:

Under the direction of the RN, performs job duties for a nursing assistant. Must demonstrate competency in basic direct patient care and throughput processes. Must demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organization and prioritization skills. Is responsible for designated equipment and supplies used in the care of assigned patients. Must be flexible in changing assignments, workload and learning new skills. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and type of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

Essential Functions:

Delivers patient care promptly, accurately and in accordance with the patient’s written plan of care. Demonstrates competency in the physical care of the patient according to unit patient care standards, including the following as appropriate for the unit: Personal care for all body systems, including bathing, oral hygiene, perineal care, linen changes and hair care.Pre and post-op/ procedure care.

Post-mortem care.

Placement of electrodes for cardiac, respiratory and/or fetal monitoring.

Assisting with ambulation and exercise.

Accurately performs/ documents intake/ output, vital signs, weights and other monitoring, including computerized charting.

Promptly notifies nurse of abnormal vital signs, observations, physical complaints, and other information for daily revision of the plan of care, and weekly care planning/discharge conferences. 

Assist in identifying patients at risk for falls and preventing falls. .

Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for the patient, including correct handling of body fluids and appropriate cleaning of equipment between patients.

Education, Training, and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED. 

Completed training as a Nursing Assistant. 

C.N.A. (Certified Nursing Assistant) required. 

Prefer experience taking care of patients and dealing with the public.

CPR Required within 30 days of hire.
