Position Title: Pharmacy Coordinator

Reports To: VP of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Director

Department: Pharmacy

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

Perform duties to support the efforts within the pharmacy department in the staff development, training, coordination, profitability, inventory management and operational procedures that are related to all areas of the pharmacy business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct the activities of the Department of Pharmacy.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a system of staff development and evaluation to ensure compliance with regulatory issues and to promote optimal patient care.
  • Provide support to all Pharmacy personnel regarding training, company programs, pharmacy systems, hiring process, profitability and inventory management
  • Tracks pharmacy operational data that is in line with P&L reports, audits, cost analysis and determines utilization patterns
  • Resolve complaints and grievances related to pharmacy
  • Assist various Medical departments with educating staff on the pharmacy process
  • Assist Pharmacy staff with the pharmacy generic utilization review, purchasing and reporting process
  • Maintains current knowledge of major payor payment provisions
  • Maintains current knowledge Florida Pharmacy state regulation guidelines
  • Collaborates with Pharmacy team on Continuous Quality Improvement metrics.
  • Participates in performance improvement (i.e. follows established work systems, identifies deviations or deficiencies in standards/systems/processes and communicates problems to supervisor)
  • Works with supervisor to develop and attain quarterly objectives
  • Drive profitable pharmacy sales by ensuring a fast, accurate, and genuine interaction with our members and providers.
  • Uphold service standards for counseling, dispensing, pricing, licensing, and managing inventory and record keeping
  • Ensure all work processes are performed efficiently and effectively at their location by performing quality assurance steps.
  • Ensures that the daily completion of business goals including sales, GDR usage, formulary usage, item count and utilizing customer service programs such as health reminder, web and phone refill requests, and outbound calling. Medication Adherence is crucial to patient’s health outcomes.
  • Ensures that the Pharmacy team provide community pharmacy services, such as health screenings, Immunizations, Comprehensive Medication Reviews (CMR’s), Medication Adherence, Disease management and Medication Therapy Management.
  • Provides leadership to the Pharmacy team and assists in providing feedback with the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
  • Follows Pharmacy inventory management practices to ensure medications are available for our members.
  • Works with pharmacy team to ensure that the processes in place for mixing, packaging, and labeling medications, inventory management, Robotics maintenance, systems updates, record keeping requirements for controlled substances and other necessary functions are followed according to standards.
  • Reinforces sanitation, security and safety guidelines
  • Maintains confidentiality according to policy when interacting with patients, physicians, families, co-workers and the public regarding demographic/clinical/financial information
  • Communicates problems hindering workflow to management in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate. Good inter-personal skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is responsible to oversee that the Pharmacy Department has all the licenses, regulatory signs and documents posted accordingly and that pharmacy personnel are performing their duties under their job descriptions and following company and Florida pharmacy regulatory guidelines.

Education & Experience:

  • 5 years of pharmacy retail experience.
  • 1 years retail management experience.
  • Clear and active Florida Registered and Certified Pharmacy Technician license.
  • 1 years of Hospital experience is a plus.
  • Prior demonstrated success working in Pharmacy Operations in a retail or clinical setting and fast paced environment and high-volume pharmacy
  • Possess the ability to oversee and lead other associates
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively

Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies:

  • Skill in operating phones, personal computer, software and other IT systems.
  • Skill in oral communication
  • Ability to communicate with employees, patients and other individuals in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of reports and data.
  • English and Spanish oral and written

Tools & Equipment Used:

Computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual office equipment.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit, walk and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Travel:

Work may involve some driving/traveling to assigned clinics.
