Overview

Canoo is looking for a passionate and highly motivated individual to join the Charging Infrastructure Program team in the role of Electrical Engineer Lead. The primary responsibility of this role is initially to be a founding member of the Charging Infrastructure team, taking a strong role in strategy development, planning, and rollout of charging infrastructure consultation and management for fleet customers. This role will also be responsible for the operational execution of the developed strategy as our pipeline of work fills.

  • Charging Electrical Engineer Lead will be responsible for supporting the development of the wholistic Canoo EV charging infrastructure program, designing site walks, partnerships, processes, and product management
  • They will be responsible for understanding the EV hardware, software, construction, and utility market and resources, as well as how to apply these to wholistic customer solutions
  • The position will require high EV industry knowledge and attention to market trends/technology advancements that will influence change in strategy and drive innovation
  • The position will be responsible for managing engineering projects including but not limited to site walks, design, studies, product development, and budgeting
  • Responsible for leading and supporting projects involving power distribution and storage for facilities or microgrid solutions that support EV charging
  • Reviewing of charging solutions and electrical/mechanical drawings to ensure quality and compliance
  • Responsible for driving team members and clients to creative and innovate solutions that sets a culture of technology first and right sized charging solutions that puts our customers first
  • Technical support for both internal program development presentations as well as sales support for customer presentations
  • Ability to adapt to change, as well as inspire change in others by expressing opinions and innovative ideas.
  • Ability to read the audience and adapt communication style appropriately in both group and 1 on 1 settings, responding to both coworkers and customers in a professional and polite manner
  • Ensure compliance to all OSHA, NEC, State and Labor Department policies, codes and guidelines
  • Demonstrates strong planning and execution skills, develops plan and executes; adjusts accordingly
  • Delivers on objectives and hits deadlines within project parameters
  • Empowers and challenges team members to reach their full potential, offers positive and developmental feedback to capitalizes on “teachable moments” to grow self and others
  • Seeks out feedback and opportunities to self-develop owing their own growth
  • Goes beyond the obvious when solving problem, evaluates complex issue and develops innovative solutions.
  • Drive quality, safety, and customer service on all projects
  • Required travel to pre-bid meetings, site walks, job sites, conferences, networking, and training events

Qualifications

Necessary Qualifications

  • PE licensure required
  • Must have a BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and AutoCAD,
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English with team members, managers, and clients
  • Knowledge and current on all code, compliance, and classifications. OSHA, NEC, NFPA-70E, Electrical Classifications, IEE 1584 /ANSI, and all other applicable current design standards and guidelines.
  • Experience performing Electrical Power System Studies. Experience with Arc Flash Software (EasyPower, SKM, ETAP, ARCAD, EDSA or equivalents)
  • Requires travel up to 60% of the time
  • Valid Driver’s License with an insurable good driving record,
  • You must have valid authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in EV Infrastructure site walks
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in electrical estimating focused on EV infrastructure
  • Minimum of five (3) years of experience in labor cost and pricing
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the electrical service work in industrial, commercial, and retail
  • Start-up experience a plus
