Job Summary

Incumbents in this position manage the organizational sustainability and environmental strategy. Oversees the implementation of policies related to short and long-term comprehensive responses to environment factors that affect CFPUA.

Essential Job Functions

• Oversees initiatives such as the annual resiliency report, greenhouse gas emissions inventory and the development and implementation of the environmental and energy management systems consistent with the organization’s sustainability and resiliency goals.
• Manages and provide education and support to ensure environmental management, compliance and sustainability are incorporated into the core business and promote conservation, resiliency and improved sustainability.
• Participate with local and state committees, professional associations, and other groups working on environmental management, sustainability, compliance, energy and other natural resource conservations, and resiliency efforts.
• Monitor and pursue funding opportunities for CFPUA projects on sustainability, resilience, and other organizational projects or initiatives.
• Brainstorm and identify ways other organization can balance core mission obligations with the goal of improved environmental stewardship, sustainability, and resilience and makes recommendations of policy and budget to support the same.
• Oversee and manage the source water protection plan maintenance and communication with staff and stakeholders.
• Responsible to build and maintain relationships with regional and national environmental and sustainability peers and subject matter experts.
• Monitor federal and state legislation and regional issues and studies to address the organization’s short and long-term response to environmental policy trends.
• This position is required to work in partnership with their own department and all other CFPUA departments toward achieving organizational goals.
• This position is responsible for creating a culture of belonging and inclusion.
• This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure staff completes all relevant employment training.
• This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all CFPUA policies and procedures.
• This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure compliance with federal and state employment law.
• Performs other related job duties as assigned.

• Bachelors degree in environmental management, sustainability, climate resiliency planning or any related field is required.
• Five years of related progressive work experience required.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver’s license.

Pay Grade: R32

Pay: $60,591.00 - $84,980.00 per year
