CAPE of Evansville & Vanderburgh County Inc is Hiring an Early Childhood Provider Near Evansville, IN

JOB SUMMARY

The Primary Caregiver is responsible for working as a team in the day-to-day operations of classroom. The Primary Caregiver is responsible for adherence to Head Start Performance Standards, CAPE’s policies and procedures, CAPE’s Mission Statement, NAEYC and State Licensing Standards. Must be professional and be able to work cooperatively and respectfully with children, families, staff, and community members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Curriculum Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of children.
  • Plan engaging and enriching activities, lessons, and experiences that align with curriculum goals, individual learning styles, and interests of the children.
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies and materials to accommodate diverse learning needs and promote active participation and exploration.

Classroom Management:

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe, respected, and valued.
  • Establish and maintain daily routines and transitions that promote a sense of stability and security for children.
  • Implement positive behavior management techniques and support children in developing self-regulation, conflict resolution, and social skills.

Child Assessment and Individualized Support:

  • Observe and assess children's development, progress, and interests, using formal and informal assessment tools as needed.
  • Use assessment data to individualize instruction, identify areas of strength and areas for growth, and plan targeted interventions and support strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and other staff members to share information about children's development, achievements, and challenges.

Parent Communication and Engagement:

  • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with parents and families, serving as a trusted resource and partner in their child's education and development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents through regular updates, newsletters, conferences, and other channels to share information about curriculum, activities, and children's progress.
  • Encourage parent involvement and participation in classroom activities, events, and volunteer opportunities.

Professional Development and Collaboration:

  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities, workshops, and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in early childhood education.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to plan and coordinate curriculum, events, and initiatives that support the overall goals and mission of the daycare center.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment by sharing ideas, resources, and best practices with colleagues.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND REQUIRMENTS
:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting.

Certifications:

  • CPR and First Aid certification required; CDA (Child Development Associate) credential preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and stimulating environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and sitting on the floor for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond quickly to the needs of children in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to childhood illnesses and typical daycare environment hazards.
