CAPE of Evansville & Vanderburgh County Inc is Hiring an Energy Assistance Program Director Near Evansville, IN

BASIC FUNCTION: The Director of Energy Assistance Program oversees the strategic planning, implementation, and administration of energy assistance initiatives aimed at providing support to individuals and families facing challenges with their energy bills. This leadership role involves developing program policies, managing budgets, and collaborating to ensure effective delivery of services. The Director provides vision and direction to program staff, fosters partnerships with community organizations and government agencies, and advocates for policies that address energy affordability and accessibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the energy assistance program in alignment with organizational mission and objectives.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the energy assistance program, including intake procedures, eligibility determination, and distribution of assistance funds.
  • Establish program policies, procedures, and eligibility criteria in compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Manage program budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure fiscal responsibility in expenditure of funds.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to program staff, including recruitment, training, supervision, and performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with community partners, government agencies, utility companies, to coordinate services, leverage resources, and maximize program impact.
  • Monitor program outcomes, evaluate performance metrics, and implement continuous quality improvement measures to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and grant proposals to communicate program accomplishments, outcomes, and funding needs to stakeholders and funders.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, research, and innovations in the field of energy assistance and poverty alleviation and integrate best practices into program strategies.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public events to raise awareness about energy assistance programs and engage stakeholders in collaborative efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations governing energy assistance programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between program staff, management, and governing board, providing regular updates, recommendations, and strategic insights.
  • Uphold ethical standards and integrity in all aspects of program management and decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is recommended.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, preferably in the field of energy assistance, social services, or community development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy assistance programs, policies, and funding mechanisms.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in supervising staff, managing budgets, and leading strategic planning processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences through written and verbal communication.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, funders, and partner organizations.
  • Analytical skills and ability to interpret data, evaluate program performance, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with an understanding of the systemic factors contributing to energy insecurity and poverty.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Bilingual/Spanish a plus.

35 hours per week / No Weekends
