DescriptionThe Part-Time Hunger Lifeline Coordinator provides critical support to callers to the Capital Area Food Bank’s Hunger Lifeline, a hotline that helps direct people in need to emergency food resources in their community. CAFB is committed to serving the food insecure community with dignity and cultural sensitivity and is seeking a bilingual (Spanish and English), customer service-minded individual to help field calls. Additionally, the Part-Time Hunger Lifeline Coordinator will support with general administration of the front desk, maintenance of basic information on the CAFB partner network (hours of operation, contact information, etc.), and conduct periodic phone surveys with the food insecure population and with CAFB partners.
Essential FunctionsClient assistance (50% of time):
  • Fields calls and emails to the Food Bank’s hunger lifeline, a hotline for individuals seeking information on emergency food assistance programs near them.
  • Informally screens callers for other needs and assists with references whenever possible.
  • Assists individuals visiting the Food Bank in person for emergency food assistance.
CAFB network information management (15% of time):
  • Conducts data entry using information from regional teams to update contact information and hours of operation for CAFB network partners.
  • Conducts direct outreach to CAFB network partners to capture up-to-date contact information and hours of operation.
Hunger Lifeline service evaluation (10% of time):
  • Conducts follow-up phone calls to Hunger Lifeline clients to assess their experience of the service.
  • Uses an online tool to enter data from follow-up phone calls.
Other duties (25% of time):
  • Provides daily coverage of the front desk for Receptionist.
  • Other duties as assigned
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Fluent speaker and writer of Spanish and English strongly preferred
  • High School Degree or equivalent with 3-5 years’ related office experience required.
  • 1 -2 yrs. of customer service experience, preferably in a non-profit work environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software to include: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and navigate CAFB’s computer systems to conduct data entry.
  • Ability to use the Internet for basic research such as partners’ contact information.
