HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST REPORTS TO: Director, Human Resources
POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Non-Exempt
GENERAL HOURS: Monday thru Friday; 8am – 5pm
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The HR Specialist provides hands-on support for the HR function in all areas of Human Resources focusing on employee relations, benefits and engagement.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements
- Respond to Human Resources-related inquiries regarding policies, procedures, benefits and events
- Responsible for administering the employee termination process, including exit interviews
- Facilitate the service award program
- Create, design and distribute engaging internal communications regarding company announcements, events and updates
- Responsible for planning and facilitating company events
- Facilitate and maintain employee engagement tools such as company logo apparel, coffee center, and employee gifts
- Assist fellow HR team members with administrative tasks related to recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration and engagement
- Collaborate with the HR Team to review, analyze and develop strategies for improving processes, procedures and employee engagement
- Maintain employee personnel records (paper and electronic) • Other tasks as assigned
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate and cooperate with all departments of the company to ensure the smooth operation of the company as a whole.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all customers, co-employees and management.
- Maintain appropriate dress and personal appearance.
- Know, understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Promote company goodwill in all areas, assist others and perform tasks as appropriate and/or necessary to help maintain the positive image of Capital Distributing in the market.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of administrative experience required
- At least 1 year of Human Resources experience preferred
- Must have working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
- Strong computer and technical skills, especially Microsoft Office
- Must be organized, able to prioritize and manage time effectively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to drive, sit or stand for extended periods of time • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 25lbs
- Must be able to twist and reach overhead
