PositionAs the Accounting Supervisor within our Property Accounting team, you will play a critical role in steering the financial management and reporting for a portfolio of operating properties. This pivotal position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from crafting comprehensive financial reports for various stakeholders to ensuring compliance with tax regulations and overseeing the annual audit process. Your expertise will directly contribute to the financial health and transparency of our property operations, impacting investor relations, internal management decisions, and lender communications. This position will oversee 1-3 direct reports and will report to the Accounting Manager, VP Property Accounting.
Essential Job Functions
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Take charge of the full spectrum of financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of investor reports (as needed), detailed internal management reports, and lender-required documents. Your analytical skills will be vital in interpreting financial data, identifying trends, and providing insights to support strategic decisions
  • Tax Compliance and Auditing: Collaborate closely with external consultants to ensure strict adherence to tax laws and regulations, effectively minimizing liabilities and risks. You will oversee the completion of the annual audit, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Ad Hoc Reporting and Financial Analysis: Beyond routine reporting, you will engage in specialized projects that require in-depth financial analysis. This includes, but is not limited to, managing cash and liquidity assessments, CAM recoveries, forecasting revenue streams, and conducting variance analyses between forecasts and actual financial performance
  • Collaborative Team Leadership: While focusing on financial stewardship, you'll also nurture a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within your team. Your leadership will guide your team through complex analyses and reporting tasks, ensuring both accuracy and efficiency in all endeavors
EducationOur ideal Candidate – Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S., B.A.) or equivalent
  • 5 years of real estate accounting experience including 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Mastery of Yardi general ledger accounting software
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience in the real estate industry
