Location: Omaha, NE

Rates: $100k-$135k ; Based on experience

Capstone IT is actively seeking a Data Governance Analyst to join our client's dynamic data team in a direct hire role. This position offers the chance to lead the implementation of their data catalog, refine data content with experts, and develop a robust data literacy program. In this role, you will develop and enforce data governance policies, uphold high data quality and integrity, and enhance data sharing and collaboration across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive, energetic approach with a strong background in data governance and a deep understanding of advanced data management tools. They should be a hands-on leader, ready to make a significant impact from day one, capable of leading initiatives, and thriving in diverse roles. High integrity, exceptional communication skills, effective listening, and a continuous desire to learn and adapt are essential.

Requirements:

• Implement and manage the data catalog, collaborating closely with data stewards and IT to ensure effective integration of business and technical metadata.
• Establish, uphold, and maintain data governance frameworks, principles, roles, and responsibilities.
• Implement and monitor data quality metrics, rules, and processes.
• Identify and resolve data quality issues with both corrective and long-term solutions.
• Facilitate and support data stewards and data owners in data governance activities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain data catalogs, dictionaries, and data lineage documentation.
• Train and guide data governance best practices and tools.
• Lead the data literacy program to educate and empower organization members on effective data usage.
• Engage with IT and business stakeholders on data governance initiatives and projects.
• Maintain compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.
• Proven ability to drive data adoption across the organization.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to implement data governance solutions from start to finish.
• Extensive experience in data governance, data catalogs, data quality tools, and master data management.
• Strong foundation in data governance and data lineage tools, (data.world, Atlan, Alation, Collibra, Tableau).
• High compliance with data governance best practices and standards.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of acting as a liaison between IT and business departments.
• Experienced in educating business users on the use of data-related products and tools, promoting data-driven decision-making.
• Hands-on experience with data lineage, understanding the origin of data in reports (e.g., in Tableau), and manipulations applied.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related field.
• Certification in data governance, data quality, or data management.
• Experience in data engineering and data analytics.
• Fundamental grasp of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
