Career Blazers Nonprofit Search is Hiring a Director of Development Near Los Angeles, CA

Position Overview
Be a part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals, guiding them to discover their inner strength and fostering collaboration to create a county that embodies the dignity of all its residents. As the Director of Development, you will be responsible for maintaining, growing and broadening the organization’s financial support for social progress while leading initiatives to secure over three million dollars annually to advance the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan
  • Expand the organization’s revenue from individual donors
  • Manage and cultivate relationships with current and prospective institutional funders
  • Prepare written documents that are compelling and responsive to funder interests
  • Maintain and grow the organizational culture of philanthropy
  • Empower all members of the organization to feel a strong sense of ownership and actively contribute to the financial sustainability and success
  • Lead strategy to increase income from dues paid by our congregational members
  • Develop strategy to increase revenue to our affiliated organization
  • Ensure our fundraising efforts are well tracked to maximize success
  • Collaborate with the communications team to produce compelling fundraising materials
  • Plan and implement donor retention and acknowledgement efforts
  • Serve as a key member of the organizational leadership team, working collaboratively to ensure overall success and sustainability
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree, complemented by ongoing education such as a Master’s Degree, relevant writing courses, or fundraising certifications
  • 5 years of professional experience in development, with demonstrated expertise in both institutional and individual donor fundraising
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious fundraising goals
  • Excellent writing, collaboration, and group leadership skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to independently manage tasks, prioritize effectively, and streamline workflows
  • Ability to accommodate occasional evening and weekend work
  • Demonstrated cultural competence to foster and advocate for a multi-racial, interfaith environment
  • Experience with donor databases, preferably Salesforce
  • Experience in fundraising within the Los Angeles area, possessing insights into and relationships within the local fundraising landscape
  • Prior experience in staff management
  • Experience with generating revenue through institutional and/or individual membership structures
  • English fluency required; second language a plus, including Spanish, Tagalog, or Korean
  • Experience with community organizing
  • Personal experience with the issues central to our organization's mission, such as homelessness/housing insecurity, immigration, and/or incarceration, is valued
Compensation
  • Salary: $90,000 - $115,000
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • Matching 401(k) plan
  • 15 days paid vacation, 20 days after three years, 25 days after five years
  • Paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year
