Position Overview

Be a part of a nonprofit organization committed to delivering excellence in early childhood education for families from diverse backgrounds. As the Director of Programs, you will oversee the educational and operational excellence of five early learning centers. You will empower each center director to lead effectively, enabling the central office to focus strategically. Your responsibilities include managing compliance, curriculum, budget oversight, program quality, efficient operations, and staff development to ensure a nurturing and high-quality early learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee center operations
  • Supervise the Assistant Director of Programs
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start and Pre-K Counts contracts with the School District of Philadelphia
  • Implement policies, practices, and protocols with fidelity
  • Support program and service expansion projects
  • Provide operational support for new centers and directors
  • Maximize efficiency through technology
  • Address concerns expressed by families
  • Oversee DHS licensing for organization centers
  • Ensure compliance with DHS, NAEYC, Stars, and other regulatory agencies
  • Address non-compliance or deficiencies with administrative teams and teachers
  • Recommend policy and procedure revisions for better compliance
  • Lead the organization’s vision of high-quality, innovative education
  • Ensure curricula align with the organization's mission and values
  • Oversee curriculum implementation and staff training
  • Assist with Keystone Star designations
  • Monitor the implementation and tracking of all children’s assessments and screenings
  • Update screening tools for compliance with best practices
  • Collaborate with the Child Development Specialist for special needs integration
  • Assist in developing annual budgets and monitor financial statements
  • Report inconsistencies to the Accounting Department
  • Support onboarding and orientation for Center staff
  • Design and oversee staff development programs
  • Assist administrators in educational training
  • Ensure performance reviews and professional development plans for staff
  • Collaborate on grants and outreach with Institutional Advancement
  • Support in-person events for enrollment, recruitment, development, and community partnerships

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field; Master's preferred
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience across multiple sites
  • 5 years managing an Early Childhood Education Center
  • Knowledge of DHS regulations, Keystone Stars, and NAEYC accreditation
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and train staff effectively
  • Experience with Child Care Management Software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to observe center operations for supervision and management
  • Capable of assisting during Center evacuation, including navigating stairs and physically assisting children
  • Able to travel between sites and attend off-site events, meetings, and trainings
  • Availability to work an 8-hour day, between 6:30 am-6:00 pm, and extended hours including evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver's license, automobile, and auto insurance

Compensation

  • Salary: $70,000 - $85,000
