Overview

The successful candidate will report directly to the controller supporting weekly, monthly, and quarterly processes. We are looking for an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented and a deadline driven self-starter who can prioritize multiple duties and manage a variety of projects at the same time.

An ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating closely with Project Managers and be able to manage the integrity and timeliness of project accounting.

Job Responsibilities

The Project Accountant is primarily responsible for project billings, project closings, and revenue recognition. Key responsibilities include:

• Work closely with the project managers throughout the life of the project ensuring financially and administratively accuracy reflected in monthly invoicing based on contract requirements
• Gain an understanding of contract terms to correctly set up and maintain projects in Deltek financial/project system
• Set up billings, create billings and closeout projects in software application
• Coordinate consultant invoices and payments in accordance with agreements
• Maintain contract files within guidelines and perform contract file audits
• Ensure project costs are recorded properly; prepare project labor and expense adjustments when needed
• Review and processing of project budgets, vendor proposals, change orders, and invoices within financial system
• Main point of contact for Project Managers and/or Clients for financial support for projects.
• Respond to inquiries from clients, consultants, and team members in a professional, efficient, and timely manner
• Attend program and project calls to support assigned projects
• Monitor and manage Account Receivables partnering with project managers on follow-up or collocations if needed.
• Assist at month end and year end with reports and reconciliations (could include income statement account reconciliation and budget preparation)
• Maintain a positive attitude and good working relationship with all customers, internal and external.
• Other duties as assigned, included but not limited to:
  • Review, audit, and post other teammates' work
  • Back up, code, apply to PO and approve invoices
  • Collaborate with team to implement process improvements
  • Assist in the collection and posting of timesheets
  • Assist with accounting system conversion for acquired companies.
  • Provide support for any bank audits, external audits, and customer audits.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed

 Education and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in accounting or finance preferred
• Minimum of 1 years project cost accounting & general ledger experience
