NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION: ACADEMY OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS CLINICAL MONITOR

LOCATION: Career and Technology Academy

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direction of the school principal, plans and coordinates clinical rotations for level II Academy of Health Professions students. Works with the local healthcare facilities, as well as the Academy of Health Professions instructors, to ensure that the students have a productive learning experience. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, healthcare professionals, and instructors. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors the appropriate use and care of equipment and materials. Displays a passion for nursing and communicates the importance of nursing as a profession.

REPORTS TO: School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:  These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities, and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions.) At the time of employment, the candidate must have:

  1. Either completed a minimum sixteen-hour course of instruction in the principles of adult education or have a minimum of two years nursing-related teaching experience.
  2. Possession of a current registered nursing (RN) license, issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  3. A minimum of five (5) years of acute care experience.
  4. Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication.
  5. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students, teachers, staff, healthcare professionals, and community members.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
  7. Demonstrates success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate with local healthcare providers in order to schedule students for their clinical rotations.
  2. Demonstrates collaborative and team work competencies among colleagues.
  3. Accurately and punctually submit to principal all forms and information needed for attendance accounting.
  4. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings.
  5. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
  6. Communicates and interacts with students, healthcare professionals, staff, and community.
  7. Prepares students for entry-level employment, advanced training, and/or career advancement.
  8. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
  9. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

OTHER DUTIES:

Performs related work as required or assigned by the school principal or designee.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a healthcare facility. Employees are required to think, concentrate, and interact with others. Employees are expected to come to work regularly and promptly. Employees must be able to work under stress and meet all deadlines.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS: Must be available for a flexible work schedule.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Salary is $41.00/hr. with an estimated 406 hours of work per school year. Work hours will vary from week to week. If chosen for this position, the candidate is encouraged to enroll in direct deposit.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt.
