The Shipping & Receiving Manager manages and directs the daily activities in the Shipping and Receiving Department to ensure that products are shipped in timely manner in accordance with shipping documents and instructions. The Shipping & Receiving Manager also oversees and directs the overall loading and unloading of products and efficient movement of finished products in the warehouse. The shipping/receiving Manager Oversees all shifts, Dispatcher, Lead Men, & dedicated drivers. Negotiates, approves & makes the decisions on all freight carriers & rates to ensure best cost savings for company. Essential Job Duties:Oversee and direct incoming and outgoing shipping activities, including verification and record-keeping functions, to ensure proper material handling, accuracy, completeness and satisfactory condition of shipments, and compliance with shipping specifications.Supervise, manage, coordinate and direct the workforce by establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with staff, developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, providing guidance to employees to sustain morale, efficiency, harmony and high productivity to accomplish tasks and ensure customer satisfaction.Analyze problems, evaluate and recommend best solutions, and make decisions related to personnel and department activities.Study, control and maintain efficient records of incoming items, shipping notices, bills of lading, work schedules and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules and deadlines. Communicates with appropriate recipients for timely and efficient action.Create and maintain a safe working environment by ensuring that company and safety policies are enforced properly.Develop, establish, and implement systems and procedures to improve the day-to-day activities in the shipping and receiving department.Inspect, determine, and implement space requirements and positions of finished products in the trailer to ensure products will not be damaged during shipment.Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations. DOT, NAFTA.Additional duties as assigned.Regular and predictable attendance. 24/7 on call.Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.Knowledgeable of and able to effectively use all shipping related functions within the Axiom Operating system. Required Education & Experience:5 years' minimum management experience specifically in the shipping department.Requires experience with and knowledge of shipping rules, regulations and documentations.College degree, preferred.5 years' experience in the corrugated box industry, preferred. Ability to work flexible hours or extended hours, preferred. Physical Demands:Requires standing for a long periods of time, sitting, speaking, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, pushing, stooping, stretching, reaching, twisting, pulling, lifting, hearing, seeing, and walking are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
