Meiji America Inc., founded in 2011, as the United States division distributes Meiji branded confections as well as Stauffer’s branded cookies and crackers in the US market. Meiji manufactures and distributes a variety of unique confectionery and snack products including HELLO PANDA, YAN YAN and CHOCOROOMS. Hello Panda and Yan Yan are fun portable treats that are perfect for on-the-go snacking. Hello Panda has a crème center and a crunchy shell with drawings of cute Pandas enjoying various sports. Yan Yan is a fun and delicious activity with sweet cracker sticks and crème for dipping. Chocorooms are an indulgent snack with a unique mushroom shape and wonderful chocolate flavors. Its melt-in-your mouth crispy cracker stems are topped with milk and dark caps made from quality West African cocoa beans.

Stauffer’s is best recognized for its original animal crackers but the company also produces a variety of crackers and cookies in two bakeries within the United States. Stauffer’s roots are in York, Pennsylvania where the first animal crackers were produced in 1871. Our second bakery resides in Santa Ana, California near Laguna Beach. Stauffer’s west coast bakery started producing crackers and cookies in 2001. Enjoy snacking with delicious Stauffer’s animal crackers in a variety of flavors and shapes.

About YOUR Role:

In this role you will work under the general direction of the Production Manager. You will be responsible for the plant operations on 3rd shift. You must maintain a positive atmosphere and uphold to the plant and company goals, objectives, policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for employee training and performance. You must possess a genuine passion and understanding for continuous plant and employee development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Establish and maintain a safe working environment
  • Meet all food safety requirements and quality aspects of the products produced
  • Reinforce and adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the job skill level of all employees
  • Follow guidelines on work performance issues
  • Responsible for plant production goals
  • Maintain plant staffing requirements
  • Ensure production equipment and systems are run at the highest level of efficiency possible
  • Communicate issues and problems to the appropriate people in the organization
  • Participate in product scoring, production meetings, project meetings, plant meetings, etc., as needed
  • Set appropriate goals that support plant goals for shift, operations and supervisors
  • Responsible for cost reductions and control on shift
  • Maintain technical knowledge required for position

Maintains and supports all training activities in plant operations

  • All other duties as assigned
  • Flexibility to cover different shifts as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Production Supervisor will oversee Production employees.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a leadership role in a bakery and/or food & beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with HACCP, AIB, NSF, and SQF standards preferred.
  • Experience in working in a team environment.
  • Strong planning/organization and time management skills a must
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school; or 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
