Overview:
As Risk Manager, you wil be responisble to plan, organize, develop and direct the risk management and educational programs of the facility in accourdance with current applicable federal, state, and local guidlines while providing educational and learning opportunities within a supportive environment that will assist personnel in gaining knowledge, skills and attitudes necesary to perform assigned duties while minimizing risks to the residents, staff and facility. Monitor "at-risk" residents and their plans of care to ensure quality care that complies with state, federal, and corporate standards.
As Infection Control, also refered to as Infection Preventionist: The IP is a key person on the infection prevention team and in most cases is designated as the person having responsibility for the program. The IP is responsible for dissemination of infection prevention information, including surveillance data and policy decisions.
Skills/ Requirements:
The Risk Manager/IP should be a highly energetic individual who demonstrates a desire to develop and implement the infection prevention and control program. They is able to plan and conduct training seminars and exercises and has a working knowledge of nursing practice and theory. They should have excellent written and oral communication skills, display leadership and creativity, possess time management skills, and have extensive presentation experience. They should be adaptable and flexible in order to meet a wide range of service needs.
The typical position of Risk Manager/ IP requires:
1. Must be able to write the english language in legible and undersrandable manner.
2. Must possess the ability to make decisions when circumstances warreant such action in a timely fashion
3. Must posses the ability to plan organie, develop, implement and interpret the safety programs, goals, objectives, policies and proceures.
4. Must possess acute vision with moderate assistance for assessment and evaluation purposes.
5. Must possess acute hearing with moderate assistance for assessment and evaluation purposes
6. Must be able to relate to the ill, disabledd, elderly, emotionally upset and at times with hostile people.
7. Must be willing to perform tasks that may involve exposure to a resident's body fluids or blood.
8. Must be able to push, pull, lift and move equipment and supplies in excess of 50 pounds.
