Responsibilities:
1. Medical Care and Monitoring:

• Administer medications and medical treatments as prescribed by the child's healthcare provider.
• Monitor vital signs and assess the student's overall health throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and update the student's care plan as needed.

2. Accompanying the Student:

• Attend school with the medically fragile child to provide continuous medical support and intervention.
• Accompany the student to classes, special activities, and other school-related events.
• Be a liaison between the school staff and the healthcare team to ensure seamless communication.

3. Emergency Response:

• Develop and implement emergency response plans in collaboration with the school and healthcare professionals.
• Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any medical emergencies that may arise during school hours.

4. Communication:

• Maintain open and transparent communication with the student, their family, and school staff.
• Provide regular updates to parents/guardians and healthcare providers regarding the student's health and progress.

5. Collaboration with School Staff:

• Collaborate with teachers, aides, and other school staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Provide education and training to school staff on the specific medical needs of the student.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Active and unrestricted LPN or RN license in the state of Kansas.
• At minimum, current BLS and ACLS certifications (Certification requirements vary by location).
• At least 1 year of experience as an LPN or RN, actively within the last 12 months.
• Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies while maintaining composure.
• Knowledge of pediatric nursing and experience with care planning.
