SummaryThe Technical Trainer will develop and deliver training programs to employees, ensuring they possess the necessary technical skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes, a passion for teaching, and the ability to translate complex technical information into easy-to-understand training materials and carry out continuous improvement and sustainability (CIS) certification courses.
Essential Job Functions
  • Oversee the current suite of training courses, ensuring that all materials, including trainer’s notes, session plans, visual aids, and handouts, are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Craft, refine, and refresh training modules and resources, such as visual aids, tailored to the technical processes unique to our manufacturing operations.
  • Assess the impact of training initiatives and implement enhancements to boost their effectiveness.
  • Identify the most effective method for delivering training on specific topics.
  • Partner with the training team and department leaders to pinpoint training requirements and devise bespoke programs that elevate staff performance.
  • Guarantee that all training endeavors align with industry benchmarks and organizational protocols.
  • Facilitate interactive training sessions, workshops, and seminars on a range of technical topics, including the operation of machinery, adherence to safety standards, and quality assurance measures.
  • Evaluate trainees' proficiency and knowledge, making informed decisions about their competency and suitability for roles based on these assessments.
  • Operate and keep the Training Management Software up to date in collaboration with the training team.
  • Participate periodically in the operational and support departments to stay abreast of the latest advancements in manufacturing technologies and educational methodologies.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Technical Training department at industry events, exhibitions, and seminars.

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in engineering, education, or manufacturing preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical training role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Knows Lean manufacturing principles, with real experience preferred.
  • Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries favored.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must be IPC-WHMA-A-620 certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Certification in technical training or instructional design is a plus.
Language Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Conversational in any other language is a plus.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and educate diverse audiences.
  • Expertise in creating learning materials using a variety of software tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands of a technical trainer in a manufacturing setting often require standing for long periods during training sessions or while supervising on the manufacturing floor, sitting for extended periods while developing training materials or working on computers, lifting and carrying training materials or equipment, moving objects such as training aids or machinery during hands-on demonstrations, reaching for objects, sometimes overhead, when setting up training environments or during practical demonstrations, entering data or creating materials using computers, and handling tools, components, or training materials, often requiring precise hand movements.

  • Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.
