We are looking for a talented individual to join our Architecture Team and work alongside engineering, product and external vendors to guide technical solutions. The Solutions Architect contributes to the Carnegie Learning architectural principles and ensures that solution implementations comply with those principles. This individual builds the bridge between a business problem and the technology solution and outlines each of the phases and requirements required to make that solution work.

What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Work as part of the architecture team to continuously evolve the companys platform architecture and architectural principles.
  • Provide architectural supervision to engineering teams and external vendors, guiding them on implementation decisions to ensure compliance with the companys overall architectural direction.
  • Collaborate with product verticals, mapping their solution needs with existing and new architectures with the objectives of:
    • Maximizing re-use across the product suite
    • Minimizing time-to-market
    • Aligning solutions with architectural goals
    • Documenting solution needs as well formed requirements appropriate for consumption by agile teams
  • Work with engineering and product teams to design scalable solutions and products.
  • Understand the technical aspects of projects to identify risks, propose immediate solutions and provide guidance to project teams.
  • Analyze trade-offs and effectively communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Guide modernization of legacy applications.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging technologies, recommend improvements to application architectures where appropriate.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions for business needs or problems.
  • Assess and document effectively the impacts of proposed technical solutions, understanding risks and recommending mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Document guidelines and best practices for implementing solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.

What Should Be In Your Bookbag

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent years of experience
  • 8 years of relevant technical experience with at least 3 years in an architect ole
  • Experience and technical adeptness in many of the following areas:
    • Object oriented programming using Java, Scala and/or Typescript
    • REST-based service application stacks such as JAX-RS/Jersey, Hibernate, Node/Express
    • Cloud-based technologies such as AWS Lambda, Kinesis, SQS and S3
    • SQL databases such as MySQL/Aurora
    • NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and MongoDB
    • Big Data platforms such as Apache Spark and Hadoop
  • Strong understanding of data security and data privacy concepts, practices and tools
  • Experience in a multi-product, multi-application development environment
  • Drive for continuous personal improvement
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Good to have:
    • Understanding of how Big Data, DevSecOps, Machine Learning fit into product architecture.
    • Significant experience in agile methodologies
    • Prior experience in EdTech
