Carolina Canners supplies its stockholders and bottlers across the southeast with the highest of quality soft drinks from a very modern production center located in Cheraw, SC. Carolina Canners has expanded has expanded many times and now has a flex can line with 3 fillers, 2 bottle production lines, a fountain syrup production line, and a pasteurized hot fill bottle line all of which produce numerous packages and brands, flavors, of water, fruit juice drinks, tea, energy drinks and non-carbonated and carbonated drinks.
We are seeking a skilled, experienced cost accountant with a sound understanding of standard cost development to join our growing organization. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of costing and financial accounting experience within a manufacturing environment. He or she will be detail-oriented, organized, with a critical and analytical mindset, excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Job Description:
The cost accountant position is responsible for all aspects of Manufacturing and Production costing analysis and inventory for all business locations. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate bills of materials (BOMs), updating rates, preparing cost analyses and estimates, and inventory valuation by division while providing decision-making insight for management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain accurate ERP Item Master for standard costs of manufactured goods and customer price lists
- Update work center Labor and Overhead rates and roll costs annually
- Maintain cost accuracy through monthly PPV, COGS and other variance analysis and recommend interim cost rolls as needed
- Maintain customer contract log to track and report on status of commitments, rebates, escalators to set accruals and make recommendations to management
- Prepare detailed cost quotes for margin analysis and pricing
- Attend daily production meetings, gather and analyze production data for accuracy, trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings and improved performance
- Reporting and dashboards of daily yields, monthly metrics and ad hoc requests
- Lead annual tagged inventory, monthly physicals (1 Sunday per month) and daily cycle counts to ensure the accuracy of inventory records
- Reconcile and analyze physical inventory discrepancies to initiate recounts or determine root cause
- Review and process approved inventory adjustments, transfers and customer returns
- Support month-end process with inventory reconciliation, absorption analysis, reports and journal entries as needed
- Actively seek opportunities to improve and streamline processes while maintaining “living” documentations for all work processes
- Special project as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of related work experience within a manufacturing environment
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP as it applies to a manufacturing environment is required
- Significant hands-on experience with a manufacturing ERP
- Proficiency in Excel
- Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, interpret results, and make recommendations
- Ability to effectively present information and communicate tactfully (written and verbal) for positive working relationships with customers, co-workers and other functional areas
- Professional Integrity and maintain confidentiality
- Must be a team player who also works well independently
