Carolina Country Club - Raleigh is Hiring an ACCOUNTING MANAGER Near Raleigh, NC

SALARY RANGE 65K - 75KThe Accounting Manager's job at the Club is primarily to help manage the Club’s financial operations. He or she is an essential component of the accounting operations of the club and works with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop, implement and maintain all accounting procedures, including financial reporting, payroll, tax reporting, internal controls and any related activities and records required. This position is a critical point of contact with the membership and management by providing suitable assistance and information and by helping to maintain a high level of data integrity and confidentiality. He or she will help us promote a culture of positive thinking and engagement, have a solution-oriented attitude, and the desire to go above and beyond for the benefit of Club Members/guests, staff team members, vendors, and service providers. The perfect candidate must be attentive, detail oriented, approachable, friendly, professional, self-starter and with the ability to work independently. This position will embody the Carolina Country Club Platinum Service Absolutes.
Job Functions Include
  • Assisting the CFO in preparing monthly financial statements and any other reports requested by the Board of Directors or General Manager
  • Reconciles monthly ledgers including receivables, payables, bank, and other balance sheet accounts, and wage accounts and ensures that all items on the balance sheet are fully reconciled for each month end.
  • Directs or prepares the monthly trial balance and resulting financial statements for the club, including the income statement and balance sheet, along with required supporting schedules and other data necessary for financial reports and records no later than by the 15th of each month
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget, forecasts, taxes, and other financial reports ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to management and owners.
  • Maintains fixed asset ledgers and prepares depreciation schedules for monthly entries; filing related annual property tax listing
  • Compiles, approves, and maintains credit applications for vendors.
  • Accounts payable, which includes
    • accurately coding and posting invoices to the general ledger, assuring that they are properly authorized by each department and all discounts are taken,
    • preparing weekly payment of invoices that are due according to terms
    • working with department managers and vendors to make sure all invoices are received and processed in a timely manner and
maintaining invoice files
  • Requesting Form W-9 from vendors as appropriate, and preparing and filing Form 1099s annually with vendors and the government
  • Processing biweekly payroll which includes reviewing time and other pay submitted by each department for reasonableness and working with HR to reconcile employee payroll deductions.
  • Assisting accounts receivable clerk where internal controls require: i.e. assisting with tally of daily check/cash deposit and reviewing month end close of member charges/payments
  • Reconciling golf, tennis and fitness cash accounts each month
  • Having a working knowledge of the accounts receivable clerk’s duties so as to assist/perform as necessary
  • Assisting with member inquiries as needed
  • Assisting the CFO as required
  • Attending departmental staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Completing required computer based training courses within the required time frame.
  • Knowing and adhering to CCC Employee Policies and working by the CCC Mission Statement.
  • Strong understanding of components of balance sheet and income statements and the effect of journal entries on these statements.
  • Solid understanding of receivables, payables, and computerized accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university with a concentration in business and/or accounting, finance, or economics
  • Two to four years of related work experience is preferred
  • Hospitality experience preferred
  • Ability to train, motivate and work well with others.
  • Proficient with computers, office equipment and programs such as Jonas/Northstar. Experience using Paycom a plus.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft office products (Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Able to handle a high volume and work in a fast-paced environment while producing consistent and accurate results
Certification & Special Requirements
  • Certified Public Accountant license is preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • HFTP Membership - Certified Hospitality Accountant Executive (CHAE) highly desirable or willingness to obtain
Physical Functions And Abilities
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods in front of a computer.
  • Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements can be fully met.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to diffuse difficult situations that may always arise and remain professional and friendly.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally with guests, vendors, co-workers, department managers.
  • Exerting up to 10 to 20 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
