Carter G. Woodson School is Hiring an Information Technology Specialist Near Salem, NC

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST
(Carter G. Woodson School)

Carter G. Woodson School is a non-profit charter school in Winston-Salem, N.C. We serve over 500 students from grades K-12 each year and support over 80 staff and partnerships for technology. In an effort to support everyone through the IT needs, Carter G. Woodson has determined that additional full-time network support is needed. This position will need to be available on-site daily for hands-on support within the school.

We are seeking an experienced, skilled information technology candidate. This individual will be responsible for supporting network databases and systems, updating system hardware and software, troubleshooting for system errors, and assisting team members in supporting all data security and optimization. An extensive background in technology and computer science, with experience in maintaining and installing IT systems, is a must.

Responsibilities:

System Hardware/Software Support includes:

  • Network and systems technician/architecture
  • System security
  • Data privacy and cybersecurity
  • Network building projects
  • Data/cabling issues
  • Ticket system
  • Removal of damaged/worn hardware and devices
  • Create and maintain an employee drive database (Google Drive)
  • Assist with Google Drive setup and permissions for employees (emails, drive, and more)
  • Support updates on Carter G. Woodson's website and creation of its Intranet site

Technician Support includes:

  • Service desk and support roles
  • IT equipment requests
  • Equipment set-up
  • Equipment inventory (check-in and out) system
  • Prep/Set-up meetings/office rooms as requested
  • Roku TV for school updates and events
  • Ticket system

IT Security Risk Assessment includes:

  • Identify and catalog the information assets
  • Identify threats
  • Identify vulnerabilities
  • Analyze internal controls
  • Determine the likelihood that an incident will occur
  • Assess the impact a threat would have
  • Prioritize the risks to information security
  • Design controls
  • Documentation of results

Job Type:

Full time Hours 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in IT management, with a strong emphasis on security.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret complex networking issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment; manage multiple tasks, changing priorities, and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to train staff and interact with external entities.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
