Cartera is seeking a Release Automation Engineer to build and maintain release pipelines. Cartera partners with major airlines and banks to provide loyalty programs to reward their customers. Cartera’s engineering teams build high-volume client facing web applications, browser extensions and back-end data processing applications to exceed our client and members expectations. The Release Automation Engineer bridges the gap between engineering and operations. This position requires versatility, flexibility, and attention to detail. It includes working with multiple application scrum teams, DevOps and QE teams to implement robust software delivery pipelines. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Release Automation Engineer will have the following responsibilities: Work closely with application teams to automate build and release processes towards continuous integration and delivery. Work closely with DevOps teams to implement pipelines needed for reliable release processes. Support and continuously improve the CI/CD toolset. Participate and support production deployments, as needed. Investigate and advocate for new technologies and best practices. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of BS/MS in Computer Science or related field. 3 years of DevOps or release engineering experience. 3 years of Linux/Unix experience. Experience in CI/CD techniques and tools (such as Jenkins, Github Actions, etc.). Experience with build systems (such as Maven etc.). Experience in systems automation programming (such as bash, python, etc.). Strong understanding of AWS cloud concepts and tools. Some experience with configuration management tools (such as Chef, etc.). Some understanding of containers and Kubernetes (such as docker, docker compose, Kubernetes tools). Ability to collaborate across teams communicating with co-workers, ask questions, and learn independently. Proactive and creative problem solver with the ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot and manage deadlines. DESIRABLE SKILLS: Some experience as a developer in either PHP or Java. Experience supporting large Apache/PHP based websites.
