POSITION TITLE: Live-in Coordinator (LC)

PAY: $16 Hourly per Scheduled hours

DEPARTMENT: Casa Esperanza Transitional home

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

DESIGNATION: Regular Part-Time

WORK HOURS: Shifts PM Hours must be flexible with some required evening and weekend hours, but may vary according to agency needs (flexibility upon review)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Live-in Coordinator (LC) will live at the Casa Esperanza home and serve as a mentor and liaison for the participants in the program. The Live-in Coordinator reports to the Executive Director. Compensation includes room and board and an hourly wage of $16.00 for a maximum of 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday, for 20 hours weekly (part-time). Anticipated on-duty hours are 5 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 5 pm to 10:00 pm Fridays (Schedule subject to change to meet programming needs). The Live-in Coordinator will call daily from 9:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. as needed. Requests for overnight accommodation are considered, and LC will receive 20 nights off per year.

Mission Statement: To provide homeless women and children in the Bakersfield area with innovative and holistic services in a sustainable model that supports their transition to permanent housing and stable employment.

Program Guidelines: The defining goal for Casa Esperanza is to honor the inherent dignity and personal worth of the home’s participants, women, and children. It is important to recognize that a positive self-image and sense of worth in dealing with diversity and adversity reflect the dignity of its participants. The program at Casa Esperanza helps awareness of the participants’ abilities and acquires the job readiness skills necessary for employment with a sustainable wage and accompanying benefits. Becoming equipped to take one’s place as a contributing member of society adds to the personal dignity and self-worth of the participant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist visiting volunteers as needed.

· Build professional rapport with participants by knowing all the participants.

· Foster the development of relationships among the participants.

· Encourages a positive living environment for participants.

· Refer participants to Leadership for escalated issues and emergency assistance.

· Assist in managing crises and reporting emergencies or serious illnesses, etc. instruct participants regarding the evacuation procedures and the location and use of fire extinguishers.

· always Respect confidentiality, but as a Live in Coordinator, your allegiance is to Casa Esperanza Transitional House. Confidentiality to the well-being and safety of other residents and program property.

· Defend the rights of individuals so long as they do not conflict with programs, laws, or requirements.

· Always be always aware of modeling professional behavior. Your actions and words can carry weight that you may not have intended. Be aware of the role you have accepted, and make efforts to maintain yourself as a solid, consistent, and well-rounded staff member.

· Encourage the residents to make the most of their experience by emphasizing the various possibilities for life changes.

· Remain available to participants while on duty.

· Enforce participant regulations (house rules etc.)

· Facilitate resolution of issues and disagreements between participants

· Participate in special projects and committees.

· Work in partnership with volunteers as directed by the Assistant Program Manager

· Communicate any problems or concerns to the Assistant Program Manager

· Complete and communicate reports and incident reports as needed.

· Serve as a backup to onsite as needed.

· Maintain objectivity and strict confidentiality.

· Role model positive attitude and behavior towards the participants

· Maintain house supplies and ordering of needed supplies.

· Respectful and able to take directions from the Program Manager and Executive Director.

· Complete charting notes.

· Other duties as assigned.

Know, explain, and enforce Program Policy.

Maintain the Participants living conditions by educating and encouraging participants to respect the house (neatness and safety), maintain a reasonable noise level, and respect other residents' rights. It may be necessary to confront a resident or residents if they become abusive to program structures. If such a circumstance arises, you are expected to manage the situation by our program policy.

· Collaborate closely with staff to maintain, foster, and improve the present or future participant life program. Special aspects include closing and securing the house at night, maintenance, and filing pertinent reports.

· Keep residents informed about the program through meetings with the staff.
Your presence at such meetings is both appreciated and expected.

· If called upon, work with staff to assist participants with personal concerns, deficiencies, and difficulties.

· Be on duty in the house for the appointed time designated.

· Inform the staff of any pressing concerns or issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· A high school diploma; a minimum of one year of experience working with diverse populations; experience in a community participant setting, preferred.

· Must have a valid California driver’s license.

· Clear state and FBI criminal background check.

· Positive, effective, and professional (oral and written) communications and interactions with a wide range of individuals, including in emotionally charged and stressful situations.

· Proven ability to interact, problem-solve, and mediate positively and constructively, including during emergency and stressful situations.

· Ability to successfully prioritize and execute multiple tasks and projects and work independently and cooperatively as a team member.

· Flexibility regarding work setting, schedule, responsibilities, clients, and colleagues, and help with emergencies as needed.

· Pass an initial drug test prior to a job offer.

· Valid and current California driver’s license, own vehicle, liability insurance, clean driving record, ability to regularly drive between job sites and to appointments with participants.

· Ability to meet Form I-9 requirements, with supporting documentation of the right to lawfully work in the U.S.
