Co-Occurring Behavioral Health Therapist

Prism Health is the only nonprofit LGBTQIA health center providing comprehensive primary care, behavioral healthcare, and pharmacy services in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, and Idaho). Since opening its doors in 2017, Prism Health has become a model for culturally specific care and now serves over 1,500 patients with a wide range of services, from day-to-day primary care and pharmacy needs to targeted services like gender-affirming care and specialized population health screenings. Prism Health a program apart of Cascade AIDS Project is excited to announce that we are hiring A skilled and team-oriented Co-Occurring Behavioral Therapist. The Co-Occurring Behavioral Health Therapist (COBHT) is responsible for providing Co-occurring evaluations, including initial intake assessments with additional ASAM dimensions, formulating mental health and substance use diagnoses, identifying and providing appropriate treatment services including ASAM level of care placement, and service plan development for our LGBTQ clients; people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS; and the community at large. Treatment services will include identifying barriers to access, facilitating individual and group counseling, community outreach, care coordination, and case management

This is a Full-Time role working at our Prism Belmont location in SE Portland. The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

Starting pay is: BHT I $67,920.99 | BHT II $72,247.39 | BHT III $76,573.39 The Co-Occurring Behavioral Therapist Pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale being BHT I $75,720.99 | BHT II $80,047.39 | BHT III $84,373.79. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.

Who You Are

  • Credentials:
    • BHT I: QMHP credential through MHACBO.
    • BHT II: Registered as an associate with licensing board in the State of Oregon (CSWA, PCA, MFTA).
    • BHT III: Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Oregon. (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, PsyD)
  • CADC Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor certification through MHACBO
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related area of specialization.
  • Knowledge of ASAM Dimension and Level of Care Placement
  • Experience providing outpatient mental health and substance use disorder treatment for; LGBTQ clients and their families; clients who have HIV/AIDS and their families; and the community at large.
  • Knowledgeable in Evidence Based Practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), etc.

What You’ll Do

  • Client evaluations, including initial intake interviews, formulating mental health and substance abuse diagnoses, and identifying appropriate treatment services; notify client, significant others, care givers, and/or care providers of diagnoses and initial treatment recommendations in a timely manner; complete written narrative of evaluation, obtain necessary authorizations for disclosure.
  • Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, and reference materials; determine risk and safety factors for clients.
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy using evidence-based practices.
  • Provide all necessary documentation in the EHR of care provided to patient within 48 hours of meeting with client.
  • Collaborate with care team to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Conduct individual or group therapy sessions, coordinating care with LMP.
