Vibration Technician – Category II
The Vibration Technician is responsible for providing Machinery Diagnostics Services to
Cascade customers onsite and on a project basis. While our core competency is vibration analysis of different rotating and reciprocating machinery, we may use field balancing, machinery alignment, geometric alignment, modal analysis, analytical modeling, oil analysis, or investigation into operating conditions to provide our customers with meaningful recommendations.
Main responsibilities:
- Performing vibration analysis of plant machinery by acquiring vibration data using multi-channel online as well as portable diagnostics equipment.
- Perform alignment data collection using laser shaft and geometric equipment
- Evaluating and conveying machinery condition of machinery at Petrochemical,
Refinery, Power, Cement, Mining, Hydro plants by understanding vibration, machine performance, Operational and maintenance data.
- Performing balancing (both single plane and multi plane) for rotating machines such as motors, axial compressors, gas and steam turbine generator trains, etc.
- Able to install and calibrate proximity probe, seismic and accelerometer systems.
- Prepare timely and accurate technical reports to professional standards for customer action and maintain records for future reference.
- Implement and adhere to EHS at all work sites, conduct fieldwork in compliance with
OSHA and applicable regulations.
- Provide occasional support to sales and service teams in preparation of service scope and assist in other relevant technical communications with customers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Vibration Analysis Category II Certification.
- Four years of significant related work experience.
- Min 3 years plus experience in Operation and/or Maintenance of rotary equipment in
Petrochemical or Power plant or other process plants.
- Good knowledge of vibration fundamentals, diagnostics and troubleshooting of various rotating and reciprocating machinery problems.
- Ability to interpret and understand machinery drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of fundamental computer hardware and Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Good command of oral and written English skill.
- Possess a valid Drivers License and Passport.
- Exceptionally strong customer service mindset.
- Willing to work at customer sites for extended hours and travel at short notice.
Desired Characteristics:
- Previous industrial field service experience.
- Knowledge and Experience with condition monitoring products and machinery diagnostics methodology.
- Installation experience of Gas turbines, Steam Turbines and Centrifugal compressors.
- Advanced computer skills for computer networks and data analysis.
- Fundamental understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
